1986 13b to 13bt swap from 1987

ok so i just purchased my 86 rx7 automatic with 73000 miles and have also come across a "complete" t2 swap from an 87
i am going to buy all the stuff from this guy when i get paid

s4 t2 engine
housings
ecu
harness
t2 tranny 5 spd

im getting it all for a screaming deal since he just totaled his 86 which he was planning to do the swap on

i want to know how much modification it will take
or will the engine and tranny just bolt right in

i dont know much about these cars but ive been wanting one and am looking to start my very first project car

i have a shop to do it at, engine and tranny lifts etc. but need to know what im getting myself into

any tips would be amazing im still pretty inexperienced with this stuff but am DETERMINED to do this

i have searched threads and google to try and find a tutorial but am having a rough time

any ideas to what other items i may need or what modification/ fab work that might need to be done

thank you
im really excited about getting this underway!
pretty much am in love with my car

The 2nd gen FAQ (sticky at the top of this forum) contains all the information you need to know about a TII swap.

Since you are starting with an automatic, you will need to either make a transmission mount, or cut the stock mounts off of the body and then weld them a little more forward. You also need the TII rear end and half shafts unless you intend to make a custom driveshaft to connect the TII transmission to the NA rear end.

You also need the TII AFM, an upgraded fuel pump, a downpipe, TII starter and clutch slave, and perhaps a few little things I am forgetting.

thanks guys that thread was a lot of help and hopefully ill be underway soon

i had another question
was is the real difference between the 13b and 13bt
could i just take the injectors and what not from the 13bt and hook it all up and just swap the turbo over cuz i might have to rebuild the 13bt and at that point its gonna be awhile longer

Everything is different between the 13B NA and the 13BT. Off the top of my head, all they share is the eccentric shaft, rotor seals, oil pan and a few bits of hardware.

cuz they are way cheaper than oem or ceramic etc

i dont have much money but want to know if they are ok or if going cheap now is going to screw me later and if they seal correctly

If the engine is disassembled, you probably want the Atkins Master Kit.

Atkins apex seals are fine. Ceramics are NOT an option for many reasons. OEM seals are also fine, though are three piece which many aren't thrilled about.

Hmm it almost makes more sense to buy an s5 t2 off eBAy for 1200
let's say I get all the components from this guy and just buy a new engine
will the downpipe which he has for the s4 t2 fit the s5 t2 and the boost sensor and everything still work with an s5 even though they are from an s4

Don't mix and match parts. If you have an S4, stick with S4 stuff.
