1985 front rotor removal

Hey folks; need a little technical help here.
I'm removing and replacing a cracked driver's side front rotor on my '85GSL. I can't seem to get the caliper hanger off as the bottom bolt is "hidden" pretty well by the strut cartridge.

Am I not going at this correctly by trying to remove the bottom bolt of the caliper hanger before removing something else? This should be a 5 minute job; can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? It's tight in there and no chance to get a socket on it. What needs to come off to gain access? I haven't got my service manual yet and the factory one simply says "remove it".

Thanks!

John

Aaaaannnd..... figured it out myself. Had to get to the backing plate bolts. Man, is that lower hanger bolt frozen in there!
