1984 GSL won't start. (Yes I've read the no start thread to end all threads)

Hello all!
I have a 1984 GSL that I just purchased a month or two ago. I don't have much back story on it, but here is what is currently happening.

1. When I received the car it ran perfectly under 30mph. Whenever I took it on the highway its like my gas pedal wasn't even doing anything once I hit high rpms in 3rd, all in 4th ect. (I have replaced the fuel filter since the car shut down and I will see if the issue is still occurring once I can get it to start.)
2. As I was driving home from work one evening there was a strange noise (didn't sound like the engine, but I won't rule it out) and she shut down on me in the middle of the street. I noticed my hatch light on and assumed the alternator was over working to try and charge the battery since it had just been sitting for a few hours with the light on.
3. When trying to start the car there was nothing. My lights came on and would dim when trying to start her, however I wasn't hearing any clicking or anything.
4. I took off the alternator to bench test at Autozone and they said it was good, after putting it back on and reconnecting the battery the starter was trying to engage.
5. I bought a new battery and terminals, after installing them I no longer hear the starter.
6. The starter only has the slide and only the positive battery post connected to the solenoid terminal, leaving the top terminal empty. Is this an issue?
7. The wiring to this vehicle is janky at best. What do I need to be looking for?

Please any advice is welcome advice. This has been my dream car for a long time, and a few years down the road I hope she is as good as new. It will be a learning experience for me, and I understand that. I'm just ready to at least find the diagnosis.

Welcome to the board.

Locate the fusible links on the driver's strut tower and check them.

I checked the ohms with a multimeter, with one lead on the positive battery terminal I was getting .5-.6 ohms on each of the fusible links. Is this too much resistance? The negative terminal was taken off the battery.
