1983 rx7 race car
Hello everyone, I’m new to forms and to rx-7 rotary. I’ve been road racing for many decades but this is my first rotary powered car. Let’s get into the car. All adjustable suspension, nice cage, big brakes, fuel cell and a 12A engine not ported but has a Weber 48 down draft. Car handles amazing, but very under powered. We endurance race with lucky dog and a lemons race just for track time .So I joined this form for some advice from others who are or have road raced a early car.
We feel this car could win if we had 180-200 hp. Do I port this 12A or start looking for a 13B?

Welcome to the board.
I can only give you my opinion, so here it is. A 13B would get you what you need and you will still find an adequate supply of them out there. Speaking from a long-term perspective, a conversion would be worth the trouble. Your options for getting more out of the 12A are (at the very least) no less complicated than conversion, so unless you're confined to rules, i would say 13B.
