1983 RX-7 GLS Idle/Power Problems
RX-7 GLS with 1.1 12a
Replaced plugs, fuel filter
Rebuilt carb after full dip
Adjusted air/mix/idle bolts
Have spark, will turn over and run. Erratic idle. between 500-1000 rpm or sits at 1500 rpm unless revved, then drops to 500 and dies. Usually dies almost immediately. Idles smoother with choke. 10 seconds to redline tach in neutral with pedal floored and bucks in 2nd gear, cannot sustain power. Seems to run rich(not 100%) despite adjustments made. Can smell fuel and seems to run carb dry, especially in gear. Also dies around 20 mph. Losing alot of money having this car sit and would love to get it running so I can drive it. I don't want to sell it but if I can't fix it, I'll have to. Please, does anyone have any clue what this could be? I have a feeling it is something simple and stupid that I am missing, but I don't know what. Someone said there might be a sensor, such as a mix sensor, if that is true, could that be it?
