1982 REx How to tune ignition timing? and many more
I was told my ignition timing might be off?
I was reading the owner's manual, rmp is to be set at 750, my car reads at 9000 to 1000 rpm. All the gauges to not read acurate, ex: oil is up and down, fuel is up and down and the volt is up and down, the engine temp stay's steady(thank God) Also how can i tune the idle on my carb to keep from idling. when i cold start the engine and pull the choke the engine rev's up to 4000 rpm, i feel this is not normal. and the car smell very rich as if there is some leak to the exaust system.

I'll reply to the most obvious one and let the others dig in...the choke has to be SET....that is, you don't just pull it all the way out and it's ready to go. I start my car w/o the choke, then I blip the gas pedal to keep the engine spinning at around 1100 rpm's as I then set my choke to those same 1100 rpm's w/o me having to touch the gas pedal...then I'm ready to go.
If the choke is still out at the first red light I encounter, I'll re-adjust the rpm's back down to 1100 one more time.
