ON 1980 RX7 light restoration

The car seems to be running well now but has a puff of smoke when started after sitting a week. after a minute or two its gone. I checked the posts regarding this on the site but I am not clear what it can be and what I need to do.
Dad claimed to smell gas following me when i took it home.
It's all stock except a Racing Beat competition exhaust. I am the original owner.
a few things missing are:
the coloured jack
the front interior light lens cover at the rear view mirror
the fuse cover
left side small dash panel
front hood RX7 emblem
round headlight with flat front to match the other side (one has a curved front)
I'm planning to clean the inside out as soon as I get a chance to see if I can find out if anything else is gone. It's locked up in my garage at last
I would appreciate any helpful suggestions.

the majority of the things you mentioned can probably be found between the Classified section here, a junkyard, Ebay, Black Dragon and Mazdatrix. you could also try posting a Wanted ad.

for the headlight, the curved one is the normal one. i prefer the Euro-type upgrades, but i understand if you're doing an actual restoration, then you'll want to be as correct as possible.

Is there any particular supplier of the head lights mentioned in the above reply?
I suspect the Blaupunkt radio may have been cut in so unfortunately so I may need a Clarion with the original faceplate too.
I need to reattach the antennae and find a way to reconnect cut wires. I think it needs work though since I remember it not going up fully which is why it was removed before pulling it underneath a car cover. Any experience out there restoring the antennae to functioning condition?

if i recall, i got my lights from Black Dragon.

the radio will probably take a while to find, you try posting ads or maybe attending local meets when the car is back on the road.

i don't know anything about repairing car audio antennae, but i would imagine if that's how you want to do it, and indeed if it can be done, the shop that specializes in cr

Smile 1980 RX7 paint being decided upon

Hello from Ontario regarding my first generation 1980 RX7. I'm back again. Its been awhile but Project X near Parry sound Ontario lost a valued restoration man recently so the work has been hung up. X is looking for a new employee to fill some rather large shoes. Apparently a lot of old hands in this business are being lost now.
The car may be transferred to another shop but in the meantime I need to choose something for the quote. Do I keep the Tornado Silver colour or pick something more custom? I saw a dark charcoal or black with neon orange or red windshield trim at top and sides once. A fade from black on the front and hood to silver tail lights maybe? A Japanese symbol somewhere? Any great ideas or pics out there? There's some awesome custom colours on Hot Rods but what about vintage Japanese rockets?
