I inherited an 1980 RX7 with 32,000 original miles, that has been in storage since 1998. The car is like new, but needs a fuel tank. No luck so far on the net. I want to sell the vehicle but need to find a tank first. Tried to soak it with solvents etc... to no avail. Suggestions?

 

If the tank is not rusty and you don't want to clean it, take it to a radiator shop for them to boil it and clean it. I had a few 79-80 cars and that is a common problem.... With the tank out of the car. You can buy two gallons of carb cleaner, put it inside the tank and sloshed it around daily for about two weeks...get the carb cleaner out and put it in a bucket in case you need to reuse for the tank again. run a garden hose in your tank and see if it cleaned up... If not, put the carb cleaner in again and slosh it...

last option is to buy a good used tank which is hard also and they still average $100 or more plus shipping
