13b rew from 1992 rx7 binding on third rotation

hye guys! I just rebuilt my 13b from a 1992 fd rx7. When I spin it be hand there is little resistance for the first two rotations then on the third rotation for about 20 degress it has alot of friction (i have to muscle through it when grabbing it from the flywheel). does thiss mean theres a problem with the corner of one of the rotors? any input would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the board.

Well, it certainly doesn't sound normal. Are you getting compression sounds from ALL 6 chambers? You mentioned "a lot of friction," do you hear or feel anything actually scraping? Has the engine been ported?

At this point, it will cost you nothing but time to disassemble and double-check, so that should be an option you leave on the table.

hey man, thanks a lot for the reply! I am getting all 6 compression sounds, i don't hear or feel any scrapping just significantly more resistance for about 20 degrees of rotation. I am almost certain all of the two piece apex seals stayed together. and yes it has an aggressive/large street port. Ya i already took it apart once and had to get new coolant seals since they had expanded from the petroleum jelly i used in assembly. Thanks again any help is greatly appreciated!

Is this with just the bare motor or is it with the front stack in place? If the front stack is in place, then try removing it and see if it turns freely then.
