12a /w weber 45 dcoe. Got some ignition questions!

So I am new to the rx7 club, read many topics but this is my first post! Ive had my 84' 12a for about a year now, bought it for $500 as a not running project, new fuel pump, weber 45 dcoe carb, tune up, tires, and it's running and driving. But for the life of me I can't get it to run properly(sluggish accel, won't Rev over 5k rpm). It has slight upgrades put on by the previous owner (racing beat headers and presilencer, rb intake manifold). I tried to get the carb tuned in with a jetting kit but I'm not making much progress. So I've narrowed my problem down to the ignition. My local mechanic told me about the vac advance on the distributor. So here's my first question.

Should I run a vacuum port from my intake manifold? Since the 45 dcoe has no vacuum port.

What will my car run like afterwards?

My other choice is just trashing the old ignition system for a msd 6al, but my funds are really limited.

Any help is highly appreciated!

You can leave the vacuum advance as is . Make sure you have spark on both your leading and trailing plugs. And make sure your timing in set correctly with a timing light. What configuration is in the carb right now.

The carb has the stock jets in it, I have a jetting kit and I've already synced the carb.

You going to have to switch out a few things on the Carb try 40mm chokes and a 200 main fuel jet and f11 tube you will probably have to switch you idle and air corrector too depending what is in there . And verify you have spark at both plugs and that timing is correct. A widen and would also be a great investment so your not just playing a guessing game and constantly checking spark plugs.
