[89 gtus] What is this? With pics!

Sup guys,

Just picked up this fc from in my neighborhood. He bought it as a wedding gift for his wife and himself back in 89 and I've been leaving notes on the windshield to buy it from him for 2 years now and he finally bit. It's got 72k miles and low compression. Lucky 7 said it was high 70s on one and low 80s on another.

In the meantime I have a vac leak somewhere as I hear a loud HISSS. Found the culprit but do not know what it is. What is this??? What does this do? Can I just cap it off? Do I need it?

what is this? 89 gtus - Album on Imgur

Thanks! I really appreciate the quick response.

So the hose connect to the BAC correct? What is that hose for and what does it do? Quick googles and Haynes manual says it controls the air and fuel mix depending on conditions but I do not know what this specific hose doing. Is it passing air or coolant? I noticed that if I clamp it shut with pliers my idle drops a bit.

Will go out and get a new hose for it tomorrow and hopefully the leak goes away.
