Wheels all f'ed up! Pic included.

I'm never one to take my car to the car wash, but in the interest of time and the baby, I did what was most convenient. Not a good decision!

So now I am left with a few options: Get a company to "fix" them, which means I literally have to wash them after every drive and religiously polish them once to twice a month, or get a company to coat them in a different finish. What to do?

Here is a pic.

Sadly posted,

Mike

Ouch! Did you end up getting them fixed or just scrap them? I'm not allowed to purchase new ones so fixing is my only option.

"I'm not allowed"......Glad I'm not married

On a serious note, sorry to see it Mike. What exactly happened? the auto car wash won't cover it (assuming it was their fault)?

Rich,

Being married and newly inducted to the halls of fatherhood will put a strain on anyone’s ability to spend on their hobbies. Honestly though, me not purchasing new wheels is better for the family in the long run. I don't have to like it though.

Basically, I got the car washed at a local joint and didn't notice the damage until a day and a half later. Long enough for me to have thrown away the receipt. I called the car wash and even if I had the receipt and undeniable proof that the damage was caused by them, still a no win situation. I guess they have disclaimers advising customers with after-market equipment that they can not be held accountable for any damages caused by their services.

I've never taken the 7 to any car wash, other than this one time. Learned my lesson. I'm looking to take them to a place in PA that will completely strip them of all protective coatings and re-coat/polish them, and spray a clear coat over it all. Should cost around $200 a wheel.

That, I'm allowed to do.

Damn pic got deleted.

Here it is again. I'm talking to "Wheel collision Center" in Bath, PA. Seems they will be able to polish and clear coat them for around $200 a wheel.

There is a place in Maryland call "Yee ole Wheel Shop" They work wonders. You may want to look them up before you buy a new wheel.

Ernie,

I actually talked to a "Dan" at Ye Olde Wheel Shop, and although they can fix them, no clear coat will be applied. This means I have to maintain some sort of cleaning regimen each day if I am to keep them looking nice, otherwise they will dull again.

The place in PA applies a clear coat.

Nick,

Suds car wash here in Ashburn. Stay far away.

Oh, are you still looking for the rear valance thingy? I have one that I was going to sell to another member, but I feel he may not want it due to its condition. I find it to be in ok shape, so I'll snap some photos for ya. Who knows, you may want it.

yeah that place is terrible...I took my TL there to get washed and I ended up getting my money back and going home to re-wash the damn thing! The rear valence piece is for a project car so you never know...just shoot pics to NickTelo2@aol.com or better yet I can just swing by when in town if you wish. Let me know.
