I have some great news to share regarding wheel repair in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
First, the background. If you were at DGRR 2018 then you may have heard about my bent wheel. My FD has a set of the RZ wheels and the right rear wheel took a hit from a pot hole while driving through Ashville, NC. I made it to the Village and even drove the Cherahola Skyway with a great amount of vibration. On my way back from the Skyway, I stopped at C&D Tire to check it out. It was obvious to the cause of the vibration. See the photo!
There's your problem!
They were able to hammer the rim into a better shape with a few hammers and wood. It wasn't perfect but they were able to balance it with some weights. It certainly took out the major vibrations.
Once I returned home, I sought out a wheel repair shop. I am please to say that if anyone in the Hampton Roads area needs to true a wheel then check out Professional Rim Repair. For a cost of $135 (per wheel) they fixed my wheel! They measured the wheel before and after the repair and this is what they recorded:
Before: 0.206"
After: 0.012"
They also performed a wheel alignment so the FD has zero vibration and tracks straight!
