Washington DC area Quarterly Meetup Thread - SUMMER 2019 EDITION
The rumors of my death have been grossly exaggerated...
Maryland Guys... Remember the days of the Columbia Fuddruckers meets?
Virginia Guys... Remember the days of the PWC Commuter Parking Lot MegaMeets?
I never even showed up to a meet in my RX-7. Despite being Normally Aspirated it's still in an RX-7's natural habitat, on jackstands in the garage.
I never gave a ****. I'd just show up in my truck and shoot the **** with like minded car guys.
It's been almost a decade since then. God, I miss those days.
I recently had a track day on my motorcycle.
It was so nice to talk shop... To have an UNINTERRUPTED CONVERSATION about tire rubber compounds and sintered metallic brake pads and late apexes and whatnot.
What's everyone up to these days?
Where's everyone meeting up at these days?
Let's get together... Have a coffee... Have a burger... Have a beer... Shoot the ****...
RX-7 down? **** your RX-7.
Daily beater down? **** your daily.
Ain't got no job; can't afford the bus fare? I'll pick your *** up.
Somebody?
Anybody?
Please?
Nah. Seriously, this was touched off by the 2018 Fall Road Trip thread. People were asking about **** in there. I figured I'd start a new thread and maybe get things going on at least a quarterly basis... Starting on the First day of Summer, 2019.

Good to know there's still a Fuddruckers around as the ones I knew of in NoVA and DC have all closed. I'd be up for it but Rockville will depend on the time of day and traffic conditions for me. As you might have seen from my post in the other thread, there were no bites from my proposed Taco Bar meet last week. Traffic crossing the American Legion Bridge was red from 2 pm to 6 pm - on that Saturday. So I even aborted my own plans and never met up with Bill. Not a fan of traffic - especially in the FD.
I appreciate the effort and will keep an eye on this post. We usually meet twice a year for a Shenandoah drive but it didn't happen this past Fall and Spring. Hopefully, we can resume that this coming Autumn.

NoVA folk here would have hard time making it in 495/270 parking lot! I know there are meets in VA and in MD weekly that we can probably all come out to. Talk crap about our cars and the rice/stance nation riding around the lot as well! ;-P
Let me know about the doing the Shenandoah thing. Front Royal has decided to step up its game with brew pubs and the like. Having to deal with 66 traffic on the daily means I will rarely do it on the weekends.
Hey Jack & Duc - Max Spd you got to forgive an old man, just can't remember your first name despite meeting up with you twice now. I'm up for Rockville Fudruckers - just name it.
Car meets - is one in Montgomery Co. that I hadn't been to in 2 years, but went by tonight - really advertising it now and were many great cars there. I was the only rotary, but got a lot of questions and admirers. Friendly group. Every Friday, 5-8pm. Rt.108, Latonsville MD.

Sorry I've been such a loser lately guys, I just haven't had the time to plan anything. I'll happily meet up if I'm in town and available though. Traffic isn't as bad early in the day Sat & Sun so If I was planning, I'd find a car show to go to in MD then meet up at Fudds afterwards for lunch. I don't know the territory though so hopefully someone knows of a C&C that would work.
Oh also Pele, can you pull the 2016 thread out of the stickys, that's been bothering me for a while

I am down to come out as well, I have been falling behind with adult stuff and side business stuff to dedicate much time to getting my car tuned, but once she does I should be good.
PS. Billy, It's in my signature! :-P

Maryland has C&C Annapolis every Sunday 9am - 12pm. Only been there once myself, but was nice humans, and quite a variety if cars. Was the only rotary my time and plenty of attention despite Ferrari next to me & very well restored 70's charger on other side.

Here's the thing about Cars and Coffee...
When you're into cars like the RX-7, you're kinda the odd man out.
It's too new to be considered a "classic" like the old school muscle cars of the 60s and 70s.
It's shunned by the muscle car guys as an import as well.
While it is a sports car, it's far from an exotic like those Lamborghinis and Ferraris that're at Cars and Coffee.
It's not a BRZ or STI or EVO or whatever the kids are driving now a days...
I'd definitely like to stay FAR away from the stance nation crowd and the jackasses that'll do donuts and burnouts in a crowd.
They say Cars and Coffee is early in the morning to weed out the riffraff. Maybe I'm the kinda riffraff they're trying to keep out.
I've got zero interest in cars where you've gotta pay your butler to cut the antifreeze with Perrier before he puts it in the radiator.

2 FD's from the other week at Katies (yeah those are NY plates at a VA meet. Local CW car behind). Same weekend had everything from a Lambo Miura to a ratrod 1940's Dodge pickup, and it was a blast. Dulles is similarly chill.
Great driving weather in July - never saw this coming. Won't hit 90 until Sunday with lows in the 60's. What?!? Pulling the cover and driving it the rest of the week, all clay barred and shiny. Hoping to see another FB/C/D out there!
OMG @CrispyRX7 you are still alive! Yes, yes you do!
