Wassup TNC............If you want power and exclusivity go with the FD!...just make sure you have a beater...lol....If you want a rotary...as a daily driver with comforts of home with great handling then the rx8 is it...unless you want to wait for the 4th gen rx7...which will officially be out late 2011....16x renesis engine...so far Max hp..350...torque...250....

I doubt mazda would release a 350hp rotary. Just sounds fishy. I expect a little miata like car with about 200hp. Ya know to compete with the ft-86 and all.

The listed Horsepower was rated as a Max performance output of the 16x. But may be detuned to 250hp...to compete with the Totoya/Subaru coupe and Hyundai Coupe....As far as it being named the Rx7....the odds are in its favor since they are trying to make it a 2 dr sports car again with less weight. Got the info from Fast Lane daily!...fresh every day..on the rumor mill...they are usually right on the money!...keep my fingers cross...lol

The only way I wouldn't be pissed if mazda calls the new car the rx7, if it does come out that is, is if it actually looked like the FD. Newer cars these days have such strong safety and feature requirements that its difficult to make something similar to the FD chassis. Even the miata chassis is relatively heavy.

Mazda already got the green light to build it!...Hey Andy you are exactly right!....That's why they are going to do the mx 5 over again...and make it lighter and faster...trying to be nostalgic like the original....Right now Mazda Corp. is trying to get feed back from its core rotary enthusiast ..in trying to guage the right amount of horsepower and torque for the 4th gen...the project is a go...they just cant make up their damn mind!...I would suggest starting with 280-300hp...assuming the curb weight is similar to a miata. Also heard that its going to be a dual cl. transmission...with direct injection...hopefully they will get rid of the flooding issues....so relax dave...its on the way....we all have to be patient...unfortunately the market and economy dictates:-(

I've read it has had a green light to build it for a while. In fact, I heard about the news in a similar fashion (aussie web video). It broke my heart when it didnt happen .

I get my news from jalopnik and they also say a new 7 is coming...
http://jalopnik.com/5435351/report-m...s-the-new-rx+8

Their source is
http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...-for-rx-8.html

but I'll never believe it until mazda tells me. They have been talking about a 7 for 2012 for a long time. It probably is true. I think the reason this is coming up again is because of the announcement of the AE86 spiritual successor. Now mazda has an even greater reason to go retro. I really do hope it comes out though. That would rock!

Yeah there have been rumors about the dual clutch with the set rev matching feature for a while, somewhat similar to the 370z. I forgot where I heard this one but this wouldnt surprised me at all if it were true. I think it makes perfect sense to put it in the next car.

Hey Andy...your right again...competition brings out the best. Hopefully Mazda will listen to their core rotary customers and not to the executives!...Another rumor i heard was a mid mount 16x....with the dual clutch...they are desperate so save weight ..along with distrubution....i know their tempted to make the 16x 300hp...but when they see that Hyundai...and Toyota will sell their vehicles at $25,000..with minimal hp(250hp)...they might be tempted to so the same?.....

Are all these estimated hp amounts with or with out a turbo?

I'd be really surprised if mazda could get 300~ with an NA 2 rotor.

Meh NA is so lame.

I'm soooo close to finishing gathering parts for the turbo swap.
Just need injectors, fuel pump, and a front mount. If anyone knows somewhere I could get these locally hit me up

I hate AN fittings and when you put on a after market exhaust manifold where the oil line is so short that it is a pain to make the **** bend where you need it

if n/a's would make the power im looking for without sacrificing drivablility i can honestly say i would much prefer an n/a rotary:

smooth powerband all the way up the rpms
power on demand, no lag at all
more predictable
safer and more reliable

its why if i were to go 20b i would definetly make it n/a

Dave,
The only Justifiable 20b NA would be if you had two. One Ballz out 600+ and the smooth power 300-350 hp.

In regards to this new flagship rotary...Im sorry guys, i just dont see that 90's Sports car era ever coming back.

The next generation of OBD PCM/ECUS are ridiculous. Mix that with how far back development in rotary engines in comparison to pistons; it wont be anywhere what were expecting.

Its sad, car makers have plateaued development on Engines overall but Technology in Ecus have gone years if not decades ahead of engine development.

720cc primaries and 1600cc secondaries.
I was going to go with 1000s up front but I don't want my low end to be shitty.

I totally agree with rx927.
I doubt anything they'll put out now will be as good as the FD and FC were in thier time.

Ive been doing my fair share of research no need for 1000/16000 combo unless your shooting for some insane hp. There is a calculator around somewhere or max hp with injector combos.

Proper fuel pump and fuel pump/injector wiring with the 720/1000 combo you should have more than enough injector duty to spare.
