Question trailer for RX7

hey all...

first post in a long, long time... the RX7 has a small coolant leak somewhere that i can't find... i'm considering bringing it out to Dave (KDR) to have him sort it out for me... maybe get the long delayed vac. hose job...

b/c it is a coolant leak i'm not sure i want to drive it from here in NJ (Red Bank) out to Dave's shop...

anyone have experience with using a trailer from U-HAUL or some other place... or even a car transport service? i'm not sure it will go up on a "normal" car trailer because it is fairly low... i guess if i use some modified ramps it would work...

thanks for any suggestions, etc...

scott

Yeah a car trailer from uhaul works fine, and they charge about 60/day for it. They require something with a v8 to tow it. I used my dad's f150. I've also had my frontier tow an rx7 on a dolly about 600 miles (with a 4 banger! hah!). So it can be done.

Talking

I had to get my FD towed to KDR last month.. my FD is just about 5 inces off the ground at the side skirts lowest point..
i picked up my borther suburban and uhaul everything you need to hook it up .. the day i loaded my FD it was raining.. and trying to get it up the ramps was a nightmare plus i was doing it my self..
well any way under the tourqe of the rear wheels the wheels started spinning and sliding off the ramp and it got to such a bad angle that i could not back it down or go up.. and the problem that i was having with my FD is that it wouldnt start and stay running.. so i had to crank it at open throttle..
and do to the angle of the ramp and how short theses cars are i heard the cracking sound of my fiberglass side skirts right at the beginning of the back wheels. but when i finally got it on i did not see an visable damage
when i got to KDR i added some 2x4's and didnt have a problem getting it down..

but if there is a problem .. its going to be with the clearance . and make sure yo uhave some one to spot you ..

I used a U-Haul trailer behind our Tundra to bring my car down to Virginia for it's motor rebuild. I used an electric hoist to pull the car up onto the trailer, and jacked up the front of the trailer to reduce the sharp angle that the ramps form when the trailer is level.

I wouldn't bring my car to KDR unless you don't want to see it for a while. Get the chinese guy.....
