Super Duper JDM Shop
IMO ther is much less a demand for fashion and much more a demand for function on the east coast compared to the west. Pretty widebody kits and fancy defusers are better left on the west.

I agree with the fact that most of the people here on the East coast don't really care so much for looks and flashy parts as much as what makes the car faster. What we really want here is speed and lots of it. No matter it be drag racing or road racing we want shops that can make the car go faster. Fact is the whole import drag racing scene in the USA started here on the East coast and to this day it remains bigger here than anywhere else in the country. You can tell by the attendance of the NHRA and NOPI events that racer and spectator attendance are always more here in the East than in other parts of the country. I will say that the thing that's lacking in the amount of shops here on the East coast is customer service. That's one that ALOT of the shops here on the East coast are lacking. If they improved on it it would be better for everyone involved because it would establish better relationships, customer loyalty, repeat business, more $, etc.

i have to agree with the nj/ny area. you friends shop is very impressive. but he didnt just start out that big, he like most respected shops started small with loyal clientel. and began to grow more i would think by word of mouth from his clients. and yes the east coast is more into tunning for performance than looks. there are only a few big name shops left in these parts and most dont have a shop like your friends. they specifiy on certan cars like turbotrix they stick to the obvious mitsus and subaru. i only remember one shop that atually came from nyc to jersey and that was spi power excel. they though split 5 years ago. and since then i havent seen a shop like them. good luck to your friend but he'll be starting out small for a bit until he got his name out there.
dude, only young guys don't do there cars up,all they do is drop it and make it loud! all the guys i hang with they have kits for the body and for the motor! so we need a jdm store here! and who wants to wait or their parts! thats the reason it take so long to biuld a car, the shipping,if i saw what i want, and its in front of me,i get it! and japan got all the good stuff for my RX7 because i saw ebay in japan but they don't ship to usa damn it!

What?
I agree with RX794 however, this thread is complete fail.
Generalizing: West coast eye sores... er cars slap stickers and obnoxious body kits all over. East coast creates clean modified cars without the obnoxious body kits and without two tone candy metal flake neon flat colors. I've actually seen a few people actually paint their CF hoods over here too *gasp*.

yeah, after i read it again sounds retared, sorry, all i'm saying is,i feel the east coast needs a shop that is complete JDM,i'm not trying to make my 7 look like the high end cars, but,i know Japan has alot of stuff for my ride that no one can get here! i checked ebay japan, and they don't ship to USA,and all the knock off **** they sell over here, you never know if you got the real deal! and most of the young guys with civics all they do is drop it and change the muffler! i know if i had a JDM store in New Jersey i will shop there!
sadly most shops that sell parts online suck, I would gladly take a trip and browse the shelves and buy my parts from a place I can see, touch, and feel the part.
People with stupid money to put into a car may end up there, not like they have anywhere else to go right now
