Suggestions for a PA Speeding Ticket
Happy New Year!
I'm looking for insight regarding tickets in PA. I have lived there for about 5 years now and never had a speeding ticket there before, my last driving related offense was probably 8+ years ago in NJ.
I know in NJ you could generally plead down a ticket to no points without too much of a hassle. I have no idea how anything works in PA so I'm looking for insight.
The ticket was 83 in a 55 on rt 95 around 8pm at night in Lower Makefield. My license in PA should be clean with no violations moving or otherwise and I havn't had an accident in probably over 10 years. The officer was relatively pleasant, opened my window, bluntly stated he clocked me at 83 in a 55 and asked for my license which I gave him. (No reference to insurance which I found odd). Came back with a citation and explained how everything worked on the back.
I didn’t really say anything more than ok and uhuh except for a clarification on what section he was pointing at on the paper.
I'm not worried about the fine ($185.50) but I am worried about my insurance which is spotless at the moment.
I was not in my rx7, I was driving a Chevy Equinox which is in bone stock relatively good condition.
Does anyone have any insight as to how to handle this or suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

see if you can call the officer and talk to him. i just got a careless driving ticket..ran a stop sign...if i get convicted, its only a 106$ ticket, but i get 3 pts...for my job, i drive a company vehicle. if i have pts on my lic, i cant drive a co veh. so im gonna try and plead that route, that i would lose my job. gl!

generally the same as nj. Go to court, get there early and plead not guilty. they should then take u in a room with everyone who pleaded not guilty and u will get ur chance to talk to the prosecutor. Explain urself and ur perfect record and most likely u will pay inflated fees but u will get no points on ur license. Look to be paying about $450 but its def worth it.
Just like everything the courts would rather have ur money so u should be ok.
