Figure you need $475. You need $100 right now to pay a deposit.

So Dan, Is Steve coming for sure then? (Or you can reply Steve, since I know you'll read this). Come on, I know you want to finish off my sexy beast for me Steve :D

NSXchink 08-01-06 11:12 PM

how long does it usually take to tune 1 car?

Scrub 08-01-06 11:23 PM

depends on the mods and what shape it's in. But it takes about 15 minutes to set up and 15 to take off. That time is not included in dyno time. Usually it'll take about an hour on the dyno, Steve is usually pretty relaxed about it.

buzzer 08-02-06 12:06 AM

hey, just sent my deposit.
my power mods are
Rebuild with street port (~2000 miles)

supra fuel pump
hks twin power ignition
downpipe, resonated midpipe, hks carbon ti catback
profec b type s boost controller
i hope to make 400+ rwhp at 15psi
thanks,
Craig

Scrub 08-02-06 03:12 PM

Craig, your setup sounds very impressive. Can't wait to check it out.....You've got quite a drive ahead of you. It takes me about 3.75 - 4 hours to get from Richmond home. That also depends on how fast you drive and the time of day, I was driving a white raper van.
It really doesn't matter what time you show up since we'll be tuning all day, so don't stress to get to CarV2 at the start.

Xscreamer 08-03-06 11:53 PM

Since all the deposits are in is it possible to make my decision at the last minute? Basically Im moving on the 28th and probably wont get to drive my car for 6-8 months. So would the $500 be worthly investment??? My car was recently tuned by dave@kdr but im curious to see what steve can do. I need to think about it and make an impulse decision. Let me know...

I think it would be $500 bucks well spent for a re-tune.

If I had to spend more than 2 hrs on your car, I'll have to charge $100/hr extra after two hrs.

Glad to see you're laying down the law Steve :D Although you're a super nice guy, I didn't think you were looking to work as a mobile mechanic hehe

Steve, make sure you check Southwest.com, Airtran.com, and US Airways/United. Those 3 are consistantly the cheapest, and the earlier the cheaper. The first 2 don't fly everywhere, but say you come into BWI like last time, the price difference may make it well worthwhile. Philly's airport isn't too far from CarVersion either, but I'll leave that up to Dan. I'm sure he's got you well taken care of.

Oh and while I unfortunately don't have a car for Steve to tune, I checked my schedule, and it looks like the 26th is my day off, so I may come up to hang out ;)

Man I'd be all over this if i could only get someone local to help me with my Power FC and modify the setting with my injector setup as I am putting 850 primary and 1300 secondary in stock rails and a midpipe...before I tune the car, I just dont want to blow up going up there, I have the $500 and all my parts, just need someone to help me make my FD drivable with those mods so i cant drive to to get a tune...:(

dump the 850 and 1300's, use your stock 550's , get 1600s and the custom made rail for the secondaries...and make your life easier. ;)

Max_Spd 08-12-06 02:28 PM

I heard a few people advising that the transiton with 550 and 1600 is rough and hard to tune corretly, hence why i just decided to mill the primary rail for 850's and got a 1300cc as secondaries...alredy got the 1300's just have to mill the primary rail and put my sec in it.

Vlad, I dunno where you get your info, but unfortunately a lot of it is not reliable lol :D Steve's been tuning 1600s for forever, as when you have serious fuel needs, that's what you use. Now maybe a novice may have trouble tuning 'em, but Steve sure won't ;)

~Ramy

PS: Just some advice... in the future, try and get advice and recommendations from those who will actually be working on your car, b/c their advice is the ONLY advice that matters (ie doesn't matter what other tuners' experiences are, if YOUR tuner is comfortable w/ a specific setup etc).

Scrub 08-13-06 01:57 PM

Max,
If you have the injectors installed you just have to go into the settings on the PFC (if thats what you have) and adjust the injector size. It won't go up to 1600 unless you have a dataloggit. But I don't think you're gonna blow your engine on a stock map unless you get on it. This all depends on what ECU you're using also.

Max_Spd 08-13-06 03:12 PM

I am runing mase mod map on the Power FC right now, with stock injectors, but i will want to tune the car with the 850-1300 in stock rails...HEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!

So by simply changing the injector flow size from 550 850 to 850 1300 from my commander the PFC will adjust the injector flow to base map specs?

So it will be just like i never changed the injectors...in a way? Safe to drive normally...

Thanks...

Scrub 08-13-06 03:17 PM

not sure, but i don't thikn it'll scale the map. The map will be the same, but the injectors will be bigger....so basically you'll run really rich.

Max_Spd 08-13-06 07:38 PM

So, will it be drivable somewhat safely from VA to DE to get tuned?

don't hold me accountable, but I will say ofcourse. So long as you don't drive like an ass raped ape.

If you want to, get on the road early and meet myself, turbodrx7, and his friend near my exit off I-95 (right on the way). You can tag along with us to feel a bit better. It's about 50 minutes from my area to CarVersion 2.

Scrub 08-14-06 11:33 AM

You'll be fine... You'll run really rich, but you'll be fine. Just don't romp on it too much.

I was going to suggest the same thing, just to make it a little bit more comfortable for him.

So it's going to be the 3 of us for sure, right Austin (well, of course, if your car is back from the 6 month circus from you-know-where).

Anyone else who wants to join us feel free. To make it by 10am, I'd guess we'll be leaving from somewhere around exits 77-80 on I-95 at about 8:45-9:00am the morning of the 26th.

Scrub 08-14-06 01:47 PM

Just a reminder to everyone, This event is open to anyone else who wants to come hangout. We can make this a "meet" if there is any interest.

woops, sorry Dan, didn't mean to imply that by my post above you telling "anyone else who wants to join us feel free". I was simply throwing that out for anyone south that may be heading up there. But, alas, Scrub has thrown the official invite up now.
