S4 - 13B Engine Question
I am seeking help from anyone who might be willing to offer me suggestions on the sale of my motor and tranny. I am not going to post the ad here - if you are actually interested you can search and find it. What I am really trying to understand is why I am having so much trouble selling my motor. I figured that it would be pretty easy given how well my car runs and that the motor is still in the car and can be test driven before purchase. Most motors I see advertised are already out of the car and it is just a crap shoot (in my opinion) as to what you are getting. I tried to price things for what I thought was reasonable and it even included me pulling the engine & tranny once the deal was done. Maybe I am doing this all wrong. What is the best way to sell a motor? I really wanted to start working on my swap by now, but still have the running 13B in the engine bay.
I really am looking for some advice here guys - is it price, location, engine type etc??

the main reason imo is because its in such good condition, you see, people buy **** motors for a few reasons(rebuild practice, parts for their rebuild, cheap project that if it blows they wont care, ect) and you have to understand the mentality most people have when it comes to buying engines...
most people that do blow theres want something better and more powerful, for example, a friend of mine blew his turbo rx8, sold that and bought an FD, hes done with that engine and now wants to go LS.
its hard to find someone that simply wants a replacement
i mean, as much as i love my car(same thing) its still only 150hp...i can barely spin the tires and it has amazing compression, with a good tune
if your the same guy that offered me the engine in my thread, like i said, if i see anyone that wants it, ill let you no
oh and the way the economy is going doesnt help either..just dont give up, dont settle and please please! dont junk it, because you never no when someone is going to need/want it
its the thought i always have, its the reason i still hold onto my parts, you never no(and ive held onto them for years lol)

Hey - thanks for the insight. I completely understand the thing about wanting to build more power. There are so many nice FC shells out there with blown motors that can be had for very cheap. I was just figuring that there would be plenty of guys looking to put together a nice car by mating my engine to a nice shell and end up with a sweet ride for overall very little money. I also understand that geographically being in upstate NY is not the easiest place to find RX7 buyers.
