I like the last minute atempt to promote this, but why not set up a site (not mypreditor.com) to do it? I know setting up an event like this is time consuming, but if we where not talking this up there would be nothing on it at all.
Sorry for the rant, just my 2 cents.

P.S. there is more hype on here about our Bear Mountain meet then Rotofest, and they are only 2 weeks apart.

hey hey hey loudazz thats my meet hehe, theres a few posts about the meet and caravans etc.

John didnt mean it like anything bad, just we all wish that the dates and stuff were posted about Rotorfest. If you look thru some of my posts in every post pertaining to RF there asking whens the date lol, which is JULY 8th by the way.

Im glad TurboVR6 is back, hes been ghost for a minute. The best part of RF is the cruise =), IMO.

Hope to see you there

dont take this the wrong way, but rotorfest dosent really need any "hype". for the ppl who have attended previous years, they KNOW that they will be going this year, and the ppl who have never attended have heard about the event from other rotorheads. have you noticed that even before jay posted on here or nopistons the rotorfest info, ppl were starting threads asking about when rotorfest is? the same way ppl started threads asking about a rotorfest caravan looong before jason posted caravan info. there are some things in live that are constants.
1) as long as jay is breathing, there WILL be a rotorfest
2) jason WILL be organizing a caravan to get you there

i know there are still prolly a few ppl out there who may be new to the rotary world that may have no clue what rotorfest is, but they will hear from word of mouth.

i have had litterally dozens of ppl call me and ask me when and where rotorfest is this year. they are not "internet types" they have never heard of this or any other forum, they know simply because i took them with me in previous years or because they have heard me tell them what they missed.

and to correct you, just because this is the first time jay has posted about rotorfest on this forum does not mean that there is more hype about the bear mountain meet. look at all of the diffrent rotorfest threads here started by forum members organizing diffrent caravans and stuff.

what im trying to say is jay has done the work or organizing the event this and every year, he's not slacking its just that the event has grown to the point where it dosent need advertising, it does however need lots of work and planning.

you dont see the church hyping christmas every year, or the govt hyping up the 4th of july. they know that ppl know about it and will find a way to get thier asses there.

I ment no disrespect on anyone. If your going to have an event you should promote it! I've been to the last 3 rotofest so yes I know what it is about.
Yes you need to "Hype" an event. It's sad when half the people who came last year came from the nyc area because of Jason. The first Rotofest and I believe secoind had its own webpage.

And not to mean any disrespect Speed, but this is not Jays event at all, hes a "Hype Man" like Flavor Flav! He's hyping a caravan to an event that they don't even tell anyone about. And yes I see others starting threads to the event, but you still advertise.

of which if i recall correctly.. was owned and maintained by the same person you are complaining about..
if your so adamant on promoting the event.. offering your assitance would be a better avenue to take than criticizin imho..

yo amp ive offered my assistance, I helped jay and vosko a while back at the event handing out fliers and stuff. I am more than willing to advertise Rotorfest on my website. yes its a big event but still think john is correct that there should be a website up (kinda like sevenstocks site) so people can always check the status of Rotorfest, see pics and or videos.

More than ever i seen questions about the date of rotorfest, i havent seen this for the other RFs in the previous years. Feels like this year more ppl were unaware of the date. The reason how i found the date was on Nopistons.com when they were trying to get 7/7/7 but couldnt get that date so they went with 7/8/7. Ive gotten mad emails and IMs asking me when is RF lol

A website would be cool =). I beleive, as john does that everything NEEDS hype. I post up a meet on my site but i still have to call, email and IM people or else they wouldnt know when the meet is. Advertising is always GOOD!

EDIT: How much is it for Rotorfest this year, still $5? Also where is the addy, if my memory serves me correct is exit 19 of I-80 then we gotta go on 517 south, and route 46 is also in there somewhere, thats all i remember lol

^^^ +1. Don't get mad at me because I believe in communication amongst people.

As you can see people still have questions but no answers, don't be mad that I pointed this out.

Guys this is how it is.......................

Vosko and I started this back in 2001. We had like 30 cars, and a BBQ over the years it has just gotten bigger and bigger. For a while I did do a big push for advertising and promotion but honestly thats not what made RF what it is today.

We are a big family. A big fucked up, misfit, crazy family. We do what we do for the love of the rotary and nothing else.

Word of mouth is the best way to promote RF. Why? because thats how we get the true rotor heads in one place. This has allways been about having fun.

I'm glad to be back after taking a year off for personal reasons. Vosko did a great job last year, and I commend him for that. It's a **** load of work to get 200 cars together in one place on one day!

So thanks to everyone who has supported the family for the past 6 years. From the noobs, to us old school cats. This year is no different than any other year. Come down, hang out, bullshit, but most of all have a good time!!!!!!

Jay

oh, and I did myspace because its simple, free, and most people theese days use it.

I did run rotorfest.com for like 4 years, it's down but I still own the domain. so getting the site back up and running could be a possibilty in the near future

Jay, I thank you doing what you do. I know an event like this takes alot of time and effort to put on. If in the future you need any help, please let any of us know and we can handle all the little things to make it run easier. See you all there.
