about $500-$600 to paint and fade the fenders so they match the hood and doors. Too much for me to fork out right now.
|
Thats bullshit. What is there to fade?!? You have two fenders to paint, right? Get the right color and all you have to do is lay the fenders out and spray them. I'll do it, I wouldn't mind making $500 for two hours of my time.
|
Damn Zach, you build engines and paint! I'm glad I know you
|
Thats right, all for beer and pizza.

sorry about the post earlier.it was like 6 am and i had a fever of around 100. Not only that but I was slowly loosing my mind at the fact i could not sleep. So unfortunatly this page was up and one thing led to another. heh well im feeling a lot better now, no more fever, and all is cool. This is a question about richmond weather...does it snow every thursday?
|
that's a richmond secret...sshhh...
:) On a side note, if you guys read this in the morning before the news...check the news. |
yea, my sister called me this morning to tell me the shuttle exploded. sucks man :(
|
That was definitely disturbing to hear about the space shuttle this morning.
I'm glad the weather finally broke. I even got a chance to wash my car today. Has anyone ever used any Griots Garage products? I just got some and I'm impressed with everything I have used thus far. |
Yeah, the thing about the shuttle is pretty bad. It brought back a lot of memories from when the Challenger exploded. Where I was and what I was doing will be engrained just like when the Challenger exploded.
Never used griot's so I can't offer anything. |
found some good shit at the junkyard today!! :D
the only first gen at circle in colonial heights. brand new brake rotors ( i need them to pass inspection) i thikn i was charged $6 a peice, i only got the fronts because it had rear disks. header panel to replace the dented one i have, and i got the turn signal lights. its in gray, but ill just get it resprayed along with my bumper. and we saw a second gen there, and pulled the gauge cluster and wiper/headlight switches (im sure yall know how much those cost) all equaled out to be $44.00 |
thats good 1point1 glad you found the parts.what year second gen was there?I got my car running today, got it started up,let it idle for bout 25 min.(was to scared to drive it) i still dont feel comfortable with the fuel pressure it idles at 50 psi. but when i rev it up at idle it goes down to like 42 psi. i dont know if its because its not seeing boost(not under load) or just not rising like its supposed to,when its at idle i should see vaccum on the boost guage right?well i dont see no vaccum on the boost guage and it doesnt move when i rev it,(which i shouldnt because it has to be under load right?)Well i was excited when it actually started up and the way it sounds :mspank: then started the celibration with the  and all is good,i just have to find some $$ to get it dynoed.
|
nice, i cant wait to hear that beast
if its together, why dont you just take it down the street (near your house) dont get on it, but im sure you can get it going a little to get some load on it. i would check that out. good luck man |
what color was it, and did it have a rear spoiler. also, there are...other parts i need, *cough* tranny *cough*. Anyway
|
it was the gold color, i dont think it has a spoiler, the seats we in ok condition. it had the rear seats. the tranny was still there, motor is locked up. it only had 118k on it.

I guess your using an inline fuel gauge under the hood? |
david, i would check to make sure your vac/pressure line does not have a kink somewhere under the dash or in the engine bay.
|
ill have to recheck the vaccum line that runs to my boost guage,Ithought i should be seeing some kind of vaccum at idle, yeah joe im using a inline fuel pressure guage under the hood,i started it up today and revved it to like 6000 its not detonating, definately running rich as hell im going to have to get the fuel pressure and boost guage working right before i try to drive it.Hows your car coming Rob? you got any pics yet?
|
All of these projects should be great to see once completed.
|
The TII project is coming along good. Zach, my uncle, and myself got the engine in two weekends ago. As soon as I can find the program cd for my digital camera I will get some pics up. I put most of the intake on last weekend, but after looking through the haynes manual I figured out I am going to have to take it back off to hook up a vac line I forgot as well as rearrange the wiring harness a little. Hopefully I will be able to order the exhaust sooner than later. I may just order the dp and fcd so I can get it on the road for now. I have a list of stuff I plan on buying in the future as well (fuel pump, injectors, ems, etc.). I read somewhere that with exhaust, street port and a good tune you could easily put down 300-350 with the stock turbo. I don't know how accurate this is, but I am hoping for 300 at the wheel after all is said and done.
zach, did you get a chance to look for that gasket and bolts for the turbo?? |
Hi guys, just thought I would send a hello your way from Petersburg, VA.
I recently bought an '88 vert. Trying to do a little something with it. Let me know when you guys decide to ride. |
HOLY CRAP thats alot of power. man, if you can pull ~300hp, that would be crazy. i hope you can because then you will not only have the best dyno pull out of us (minus david) but you will double it. :D
|
i can't wait to meet you guys, maybe when we meet you all can help me figure out what kind of exhaust i should get. I have a lot more options because my car is registered in a rural county...no emmissions there hehe. But im totally clueless and i would love some help from people who know what they are doing engine wise. What i really want is maximum power gains without having a loud ass exhaust. I can't stand crazy loud exhausts, they drive me crazy, a little louder i don't mind, but noting like an N1 ( i think those are loud)
|
RGordon- I have a stock 3rd gen fuel pump that may help you out if you want it.

B] Robin, I know your head starts to swell when I start crunching numbers, but... 300-350 rwhp on the stock turbo is pretty impressive. This is what I think you'll have with just the exhaust. 180 fwhp * 1.32 (32% gain RB exhaust) = 237.6 fwhp 237.6 * 1.15 (15% street port) = 273.24 fwhp 273.24*.85 = 232.3 rwhp So you need about [(300/232) - 1] = 30% more to get that 300 rwhp estimate. I guess with fuel control, intercooling, intake, ect. that won't be too hard. Of course the street port could be only 10% or up to 20%, so your current rating will be somewhere between 222-242 rwhp. I'd love to see your max somewhere between there when you dyno it, just so I can say "damn I'm good." |
damn engineering students:flipoff:
