$3000.00 for everything associated with the S/C,it would of been reliable if the motor would have been built right.Once i got it home i got pissed and held it to the floor at 10psi. trying to blow it and it wouldnt blow. The only other thing i recommend getting is a S-AFC,or some other type of fuel controller to lean it out once it gets tuned. With the 550's in all 4 it runs super rich. The seal was weak from the start, thats why i had problems with it not wanting to start once the engine got to normal operating temp. and wanting to flood. The motor was never driven hard til i had about 2500 miles on it then i took it easy for the next 1000,but occasionally getting down on it,then i installed the S/C and never even had a chance to get it to W.O.T. before the seal gave way.

rgordon1979 11-10-03 09:08 PM

Damn, sorry to hear that David, who built the engine for you? Any kind of warranty?

88 vert 11-10-03 09:21 PM

It was rotary ressurection,i have no warranty.Whats gone is gone and if i ask about it im sure i will get the whole S/C reason why it blew.So till next time it will be rebuilt by either zach or myself.Im looking at a 3rd gen now,but kinda reluctant due to the reliability. But its a hella deal.

l33trx7 11-10-03 09:40 PM

Hmmm. I wouldn't mind having a vert with a bit of spunk. Any kind of deal you can give me, maybe a trade for a working 88 coupe or maybe a non working 88 coupe. Although considering you are looking for a 3rd gen I doubt you would like that deal. Either way if you would like I'll spread the word and see if anyone wants a vert.

Zach McAfee 11-11-03 12:17 AM

Brian, good to hear my comments came out on the video :). I'm also impressed by your times considering it's your first time. It's tough to learn at cloverleaf because of the sand, but it'll teach you to drive slow to go fast, something I forget sometimes.
Sure you can ride. Some people on this forum have even had a chance to drive...
I felt like I could have pulled out another half second, but I still got 7th out of the 102 entries. :) I got beat by a Type R, a miata, an impreza, a porche 911, a corvette, and a supercharged mini cooper was #1 out of everyone. I'm first in CSP so it's all good.
The raw results are here: http://www.zerobandwidth.net/autox/r...erleaf_raw.htm

David, sucks about the car man, but you still have an IOU from me. We can tear that puppy apart and you might not need more than a few hundred worth of parts.

Appreciate it zach, but i really cant afford to do anything right now, plus im going to wait until my house is built so ill have a garage to work out of instead of laying in the rocks.Ill let you know, but more than likely you will get another rebuild.

ooops lol, ok now I understand. Im sorry bout that I did misunderstand. I shouldn't really read posts at 2am in the morning, I have a bad habit of not comprehendsing what I read. Hmm 3k for supercharger stuff. I dunno, I doubt I'd be able to get the money for a while. Thanks for the offer.

Mike, are you and your friends all meeting at Thomas Dale before the autox @ VMP? Me and a few people are gonna go down together, maybe we could meet you there?

~brian

onepointone 11-11-03 01:04 PM

yea, we can do that. how about 9:00-9:15 at thomas dale? thats the usual meet up time. just try to make sure you already have gas and tire pressure and whatever else you need to do before we get on the road.

anyone going to the us drift event at cloverleaf this saturday? me and a couple friends are running.

brianmcd 11-11-03 03:10 PM

i'll probably be out of town this weekend. If i'm not i'll stop by and watch/tape some. 9-9:15 sounds good, how far is it to VMP from there? I need to get there kinda early because I'm not prereg'd.

l33trx7 11-12-03 12:45 AM

brianmcd 11-12-03 02:16 PM

Anyone going to the events this weekend? I think it's drift and autox? I might go to the autox portion if I'm in town. I know mike is drifting. Would you guys be up for hanging out sometime? Maybe meet at someone's house and eat food or something :o

l33trx7 11-12-03 03:36 PM

I would however I'll be exhausted after the club meeting on saturday, all I'll want to do is sleep

cafcwest 11-12-03 04:29 PM

Mike - This is the vert weekend so I do not know if I will be coming....good luck at the d-event either way. And no stupid bets this time, I like having non Nazi looking friends to hang out with.

I just talked to my brother, he wrecked my '90. He is ok and didn't hurt anyone else but it sounds like the car is in pretty bad shape. I will post some pics. when I can.

That bites...how was the motor?

rgordon1979 11-13-03 07:48 AM

I am not sure really, he said he started it and it revved really high, almost to redline before he shut it off, I am thinking the throttle is being held open by something. He said it was still in the ditch when he started it and it was at a decent angle so maybe that had something to do with it. My mom said it is definitely a total. The entire driver side is messed up, driver side door will open just enough for him to get in and out. Front fender is bent over the hood pretty bad and rear quarter panel is bad as well. Apparently he was turning left onto highway 17, (had to cross 3 lanes of traffic) and gunned it, the rear end came loose and it spun all the way around and he went into the ditch on the far side of the highway.

jgordon 11-13-03 10:33 AM

wreck

yea, im the genius who wrecked...i didnt gun it, (thanks big bro) but i gave it a little and the back tires broke loose and i overcorrected and spun it around...

l33trx7 11-13-03 11:52 AM

Glad to hear you are okay. That sucks dude. My condoleces, cause I never got to see the car.
If it is a total, and you aren't planning on using them, can I get the tail lights? God I feel dirty when I ask that.
