I think alot of us have been at that point with a car, where one more friggin thing will make you wanna sell it. The 2 cars I regret selling were a 70 Skylark(long story and alot of history) and an 89 Civic DX hatchback (most reliable thing I've ever owned).

niburu 08-19-04 12:52 PM

I would, I can bring beer

Zach McAfee 08-19-04 02:51 PM

I like the women and beer part...
Where do you live?

niburu 08-19-04 03:28 PM

I'm on the corner of Farmington and Blue Jay
I can see Regency Square Mall from my house

rgordon1979 08-19-04 08:38 PM

hell yea, im down :D

on a side note, i drove over 500 miles (break in) today while spinning 11k (on the bike) :D that thing is a monster after 7k.

i also did my first wheelie today. it was pretty hardcore, but i came down hard as shit. all the cheerleaders at my old highschool thought it was dope though (they were having practice near where i did it. i held it for a good while. it was weird having the windscreen come to my face instead of me going down to it.

i drove my car today as well, and i still get that good feeling everytime i drive her, which is good. i found a 240 today with a ca18det for 2k  heres a picture. i would love to pick it up, if only someone would buy the damn 2.3t rx7

edit: this new forum kickass for uploading shit

We should have a cookout.

Mike, please don't kill yourself on the bike, but if you do, can I have your 1st gen? Everyone I know who has had a bike has been in a wreck, except for me, but I had a very close call last time I went for a ride. People suck at driving, and they just don't see bikes! If you drive as if everyone is out to get you, which is not far from true, then you'll be fine.

Just passing on wisdom from the old man. :)

I'll give you a call next time we go for a ride if you wanna join us.

niburu 08-20-04 07:59 AM

got a time frame on that "YAY my FD is working" party?
this weekend, next weekend, etc...
just in case I need to arrange a sitter or something or cancel something

Josepi 08-20-04 08:14 AM

I'm game for drinks. :D

Mike, you thought about frame sliders?

i usually dont mess around, i was in a parking lot, and i wanted to see if i could do it, and i did. i always wear my gear and i do find my self looking around every intersection and acting like everyone is going ot pull out in front of me.

i didnt know you ride zach. what kind of bike do you have?

josepi - im looking into getting a lower fairing for the bike, with that ill be getting metal frame sliders. i went on a cruise with a bunch of bikes and one girl wrecked hers. it was a gsxr600 with suzuki frame sliders and they broke clean off and messed the fairing up pretty good. (the bike got totalled anyways)

niburu 08-20-04 10:32 AM

ok cool, gives me more time to arrange plans, stock up on beer, and so on

I usually ride a 1978 Yamaha XS Eleven (1100cc :) ). I've been restoring a 1971 Rickman road racing bike with a 750cc Triumph motor that I had hoped to have finished by the end of this summer but the GTU project took over. We also have a 1000cc BMW (K1000 I think) and an '87 Harley Softtail. They are all my Dad's bikes, of which the '71, '78, and Harley he bought new. :)

I probably only make it out a few times a year, more often in the spring and fall.

Zach McAfee 08-20-04 11:51 AM

I've been wanting to take the Yamaha up to the strip. It did a 11.7 in the quarter new, so I was gonna see if I could get anything remotely close to that. Do you know if they let bikes run at VMP on Friday nights?

They let bikes run on test and tune nights I'm sure of. They run cars for a bit, then bikes, then cars, etc, etc...

onepointone 08-20-04 03:58 PM

what he said

now that im past my 500 mile break in, i want to take it there and see what she will do. its usually a bunch of black guys on 1300's, but theres some 11-12 second bikes here and there, most run 10's and lower. my bike is supposed to be somewhere in the lower 12's, one guy got a 11.98 out of it. i dont plan to launch the bike, i just want to see about where she stands.

tonight would be a good night for it, i dont know if i can make next weekend.
