Nobody would happen to have the front half of a TII exhaust for inspections would they? :)

My ex's roommates were kind enough to toss mine. :o

You gonna be out there tonight if it doesn't rain, joe?

I honestly don't know. :(

I have a shit ton of stuff I have to do between today and tommorow ~6am, I'm headed down to ~Deltaville tomm morning. Have to get my bathing suit from a brazilian lady sometime too... :)

onepointone 07-30-04 11:00 AM

a shit ton of stuff egh? :)

ill be at the autox this sunday.. woot woot. im also going to get my bike today (woot woot again), but i doubt they will have one in stock, so it might be a couple days before i physically get it.

im also ordering a megasquirt standalone for the 2.3 to see if this clears up some stuff. my friend has a badass merkur that hes building and he started it up with a megasquirt, he just needs to tune it and finish up the intercooler pipes and so on. hopefully it will clear up alot of stuff (woot woot #3) if it doesnt, im a.) selling it b.) parting it out c.) tossing the 2.3 and going with a 350

brianmcd 07-30-04 11:09 AM

Autox for me as well, Sunday. I also got phish tickets for Aug 9th at Hampton. w00t w0000t.

I dunno if I'm gonna come to the meet tonight or not. My friend's band is playing at Friday Cheers, so I gotta go to that and I dunno when that ends.

Had one come up on me on 76N this morning. Dunno who it was, they gave a rev. :)

onepointone 07-30-04 06:38 PM

getting my bike tuesday

cafcwest 08-01-04 04:52 PM

RexVA7 - I might be interested in those wheels. Let me check the $$$ situation

Brian - Yea, I did disapper for awhile. How the eff did you get those Phish tickets?!?!?!? I was in the Ticketmaster.com quene and by 10:12 they were sold out.

brianmcd 08-01-04 06:43 PM

jayson - i got em friday :). They e-mailed everyone on their mailing list saying they were putting em up on sale on friday at 10 AM through their own ticket website, and they had a certain allotment of tickets for it. After that allotment was sold, ticketmaster had the rest. So yeah, it wasn't too hard to get em. If I hear of anyone having extra tickets I'll let you know, but I doubt that'll happen.

everyone else - i seriously want to murder after this autocross. I haven't been this mad in a very very long time. http://www.msprotege.com/vbb300/showthread.php?t=75751

I had the siatinct honor of being the first out the gate
and the first off course
that stupid kid owes you big time man!

brianmcd 08-02-04 11:59 PM

Jon, the one near willow lawn off broad with the white wheels? It looks pretty nice, I saw it on autotrader, it that's the one. They were asking like $17k or $18k. I'll probably be at the shop Wednesday trying to get my lugnuts off, so hopefully I'll see your car there.

Today is going to be great weather wise. Get those 450 on!

Zach McAfee 08-05-04 07:34 AM

Wow, a lot of drama since I left town...

I may not be an fd owner for long. If your looking to buy a completed car (minus a working engine) let me know. ha.

I know this has been beaten into the ground for people who think they blew their engine, but make sure to check the hose on your map sensor... hopefully it isn't your engine. :(

Hopefully the second false engine blowup alarm on this thread.

This is what I did today at work, just in case anyone was looking for a peripheral port 4 rotor variable length intake manifold design drawing...

afterburn27 08-05-04 08:30 PM

Cool Zach, what program do you work with?

brianmcd 08-05-04 09:27 PM

Those look pretty, Zach. How was VIR?

I visited Va Tech today, man I've never seen so man second gens at one place. I think they have second gen farms up there.

Serious? I saw a couple of them on a regular basis when I was at school, but not too many other than that. I always see tons of them around here...

Zach McAfee 08-06-04 07:25 AM

It's AutoCAD 2000. I've been using AutoCAD since the days of Tucker High, and now that's what I get paid to do. Well, I don't get paid to draw rotary engine stuff, but you get the idea.

VIR was so much fun! I took some pictures but I didn't have time to post them last night. I had a chance to attend the classes that are part of the HPDE school my Dad signed up for and learned a lot.

I'm not really sure about the classes, but I want to build either a 1G or 2G track car for next year to work on my racing license via NASA's HPDE.

Calvin, could you chime in with any advice and info on classing? From what I've seen, I like the ITA RX-7's. I just want to have an ultimate goal and build the car within specs while I work on my license. Something competetive, something fast. Is a 2G competetive?

I have a lot to learn...

niburu 08-06-04 09:05 AM

Hey Zach guess who else does CAD work for a living. :)

calvin 08-06-04 09:42 AM

Glad you had a good time. I wish I had been an instructor this weekend and caught up with you, but this has been a slow track season for me.

A 2nd gen ITA is a good car. They were THE car to have in ITA up until the recent progress made by the E36 BMW's. The problem is the 2nd gen is apparently pretty expensive to develop in ITA form. I have heard that mostly from guys that race Spec RX7, which are downright cheap to prepare.

I will tell you that you will be way ahead of the game to buy a race car that someone is already running, and race it as it at first, then spend money to make it better. We all think we can build a great race car, and trust me there are lots of things you will overlook or do wrong on your first attempt. It is best to find a car that might be slow, but runs reliably. The make evolutionary improvements.

Building a 1st gen is far cheaper than a 2nd gen to race. You can start with a Spec RX7, then progress to IT, then progress to E Production, then to GT3 (talking SCCA classes actually, but NASA has similiarities). The 1st gen gives you a little more flexibility and simplicity than the 2nd gen, but I know you are a second gen person, so you will probably be more sattisfied with a 2nd gen car.

No shit? Where do you work? What kind of drawings do you do?
I'm working for James River AC so I do a few architectural drawings, mostly drawing in ductwork into existing floor plans. Not really what I had hoped in a drafting position, but it's still fun. 3D parts assemblies is my game.

Calvin, thanks for the info. I think building a first gen would be smart for me especially considering I have one. The reason I've considered the second gen is the experience I have with them (comfort level) and also the first gen I have is a '79, and I'm not sure if this is the correct platform to build on:

I like the idea of building a Spec RX7, then moving up. If the car I have isn't any good, then maybe I'll consider finding a used Spec 7. I've seen them on eBay quite often.

...and this is what I did today at work. We've been building a mini-chopper out of scrap metal. We have a CNC machine (usually cuts out the ductwork) that I've been using to cut out fenders, seat, and few other small things. Today I took the drawings we used and made it all 3D.

Of course we don't have the wheels or drive setup on yet, but everything else we've built, including the chain handlebars, the 1" scrap tube frame, rear fender, and 'JRAC choppers' seat. :)
