Really Need Help Finding A Place in NJ To Port Wastegate...

Here's my problem, I want to get my wastegate ported, but i've never done it before and I dont trust my own ability to try it out. I also can't handle the downtime of taking it out myself and shipping it to someone to do it for me since its my only car. I can't seem to find anyone in NJ willing to do it except one place I called who said they would try it, but they have never done it before and that sort of worries me.

So does anyone know of a place that I would be able to drop off my car and they would do all the work from there as far as removing and porting it?

Also if anyone has the know-how and tools at your house and would be willing to help me I could pay you for the work and drive pretty much anywhere in NJ to do so if we could get it done in a day.

Thanks for the help,
Brian

Come on do it yourself its really not that hard

ive done the ported wastegate on my 93 FD.....its rather simple...

I used a dremel and a grinding die....
They said with the FD wastegate not to port it over 1.24 so i ported it to like 1.15 (a tad over)..I found something that was 1.15 inches round so I could test..And just made round circles inside the wastegate port...I did like 5 at first then I checked..Then did another 5..Once i got comfortable with it I just went at it...took some breaks (cause yes I was nervous)..

After I did mine my buddy did his..both of ours worked great....

theres probably already a little outline of where the flapper sits..dont push outside of this line stay safely within it.....

As with most things like this, just go slow and take your time...I did mine over 30 minutes...works great....

pm me if you got any questions

I would REALLY like to avoid doing it myself, not only with the porting, but the turbo removal.

I am in the same position. I am still looking to have my wastegate ported on my '87 and can't even find a good rotary shop in driving distance of northern NJ. I don not the thought of removng the turbo and all those lines and what not, but the more I am thinking about it the more it makes sense.

I am going to go with BNR's Stage 1 Turbo upgrade, they use our stock turbo and rebuild it, add a larger compresor wheel and then port the wastegate to 30mm. They do the machining and my sturbo stays healthy. I am going to redo the oil lines in Stainless steel once this happens. I'll also be upgrading the fuel system at the same time.

Hope this helps. If anyone else knows where to get our wastegates ported please drop me a PM.
