I discovered two dings on the passenger side of the RX8 today, one on the passenger door and one on the rear door. Freaking inconsiderate people...

Anyways, I searched on google and seemed to find only one shop called DentDoctor in Whitestone Queens with some signs of quality work. I want to get this done right since we're dealing with shaping the metal back into place. Does anyone have recommendations for PDR services in the NYC area? Long Island would be OK too as long as it's within 20-30 miles of the city.

 

take it to your local friendly bodyshop or dealer, they have the guy come around to their places.
Waiting for them to come to you sucks and they will stick it in your *** sideways with what they charge you

I googled and found a DentWizard location in NJ at a Ray Catena Mercedes Benz dealer. I assume that the place should be promising since they're dealing with high end cars. I also found "DentDoctor" in Whitestone queens, but after emailing for an estimate and receiving a single sentence reply with broken English and no information in return, I would rather pick another place.

 

those guys drive around from dealer to dealer, there are not that many of them around.
They would rather go to a dealer and get 10 cars at once then go to someone's house and do one car.

Trust me in a specific area there are probably the same 3 guys doing all the work, your pal at the bodyshop will probably charge you the $75 he is getting charged versus the $150-$200 a dealership will charge so get a estimate first.

 

Thanks for the info. I do see that many of the PDR Service guys are mobile services. The DentDoctor in Queens has a shop and also offers mobile service. I am definitely looking to save a few bucks and travel to a location myself.

I haven't gotten a reply from "DentWizard" for an estimate yet, but I will be heading out to a few body shops in my area to see if they offer PDR. I wouldn't mind traveling out to NJ or Long Island to get the job done right though.

 

I would only go to a bodyshop if you already know them and have a relationship there, otherwise drive the car to one of the centers and get a estimate.

 

Got another email from "DentDoctor" saying that he will remove the two dings from the side and one that I got on the hood from a while back for $300. A bit steep if you ask me since they're about the size of a penny if not smaller and couldn't even be captured with a camera. Next stop is the body shop.

 

I've personally been to Dent Doctor. I remember they were expensive, but their work was good.

 

hey thats realy a steap price. i have a good guys around me thats going to go around my fc and rid it of all dings for under $300 but i have a 2 week wait. for you to get told $300 for 2 dings i would think its insane..
