Officially introducing myself
Ok, some of you may have seen my posts in the Southern MD thread or the 2nd gen forum, or maybe even the For sale/Wanted forum. Anyways, I'm Prod, an international tough guy.
Seen here in New Zealand, doing what I do best (being tough).
Who am I? I'm some spoiled college kid who goes to Penn State on a Navy ROTC scholarship and lives in Southern MD. Why am I spoiled? Because my very nice mother bought me a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT (wagon, automatic as per my choice) since I got a free ride to college. The Legacy is stock except for a Cobb Stage 1 reflash, which nets a significant power gain. My best 1/4 mile is 14.154 @ 96.05 mph on Kuhmo MX tires. I also have some Dunlop Super Sport Race tires on Gram Light 57pros that I use for autocrossing. Yes, I have stock suspension. Yes, there is a lot of body roll. For the record, Subies are great cars, mine is the 4th in my family.
Why am I here? I love the rotary engine and RX-7s (a race-prepped 3rd gen is my dream car.) Well, yesterday I decided to become a rotary owner myself. For $100, I landed myself a '88 GTU with a blown motor. I'm not sure of all the mods it has yet. I've read a lot about cars, but I've never really done much wrench work myself. So I've decided to learn by doing. I'll be swapping in a working motor myself (with some assistance from friends so I don't completely screw things up), as well as some light modding. I'm currently looking for a running S4 motor, so if you have one for sale, shoot me a PM. The RX-7 will be my dedicated race car. It will never be as fast as my Legacy in a straight line, but it'll run circles around the Legacy at the autocross. I havent decided if I wanted to lighten it so the Legacy can tow it or if I'll just make it street legal. I'll be posting the majority of info on the RX-7 in the 2nd gen forum so I can get technical feedback. I'll link the thread over here when I make it. (Probably making the thread tomorrow when I'm not so tired.) Here's a pic:

******! ... j/k... whats with the "bling bling" and the teggy with chrome dubs?.... DO NOT LINK ANY THREADS OR CREATE NEW THREADS... youre just asking to be flamed... isntead do some research like reading the FAQS in the 2nd gen section and searching.. im sure that will cause you a lot less trouble and its much quicker at answering your questions...

With the N/A it's not going to dip into the 14s, so it'll never be as fast as the Legacy. (Well, I'm sur eht N/A has the potential for 14s, but I don't plan on extensive modding)
The Bling Bling Motor Co. is a place in New Zealand that sells mostly riced cars. I thought I'd put up a useless/funny pic to lose credibility. They did have a really nice Supra and R33 GTR Skyline.

welcome to the forum.
good luck with the engine swap, you're going to learn a crap load
and I think you deffinitly have the right outlook on the car, a lot of people buy NAs and are like "this is going to be the fastest car ever omg!" and are really disapointed. but they are really fun cars to drive.

The RX-7 is lightweight and has a great weight distribution. It'll be great for autocross. I find autocross more personally rewarding than drag racing. Besides, I don't want to rip up my clutch doing a bunch of launches at the drag strip. I will drag the 7 once, just to get an idea of what it runs..
The research I've been doing has been on getting the car running and doing things like weight reduction. More power isn't on my list of things to do. I'm sorry if you're offended that I have no wish to turn my 7 into a dragster.
