Here are some general directions to aid in getting everyone around the
queens area.

Please note it is MUCH easier to get into Flushing Meadows-Corona Park
by going Northbound on I-678 to Exit 11. Then follow signs for Flushing
Meadows. At the stop sign you make a left turn and follow that one road
around the lake to the BIG parking lot adjacent to the Grand Central
Parkway.

For those coming Southbound on I-678 i am not to familiar with entering
the park. From what i have been told you can exit on College Point BLVD
from LIE or Jewel Avenue Westbound from I-678 (Van Wyck) going
westbound. I will try to go around the area this week and get better directions
if im not too busy.

If you have any confusions on entering FMP, PLEASE meet us at the
Pre-Meet Location on 110th / 111th Street and Astoria Blvd at 11:00am
SHARP!!!!!!!!!!!!

~~~~~~~ **DIRECTIONS UPDATE** ~~~~~~~
From New Jersey (Midtown Tunnel):
1. LIE (495) to BQE, get out on Northern BLVD Exit
2. Make a right turn on Northern BLVD (You will see a gas station).
3. Continue EAST on Route 25a (Northern BLVD) till 108th street.
4. Make a left on 108th Street and continue till you hit ASTORIA BLVD.
5. Make a right on Astoria BLVD, Pre-Meet 110th-11th Street (In front
of ENTERPRISE).
From NJ (Queens Boro Bridge).
1. Follow directions listed above from # 3
From NJ (Triboro Bridge)
1. Exit on Astoria BLVD, this will leave you on 82nd street and
Astoria.
2. Continue East bound till you pass 108th street (BP Gas station).
Park in front of the Car Rental Place
From the Boogie down BRONX (Triboro).
1. Take triboro bridge
2. Stay on Grand Central Parkway.
3. Get out on Astoria BLVD exit, this will leave you by 82nd Street.
4. Continue east on Astoria till you hit 110th-111th Street (in front
of Enterprise car rental)
From the Boogie down BRONX (Whitestone Bridge/Upstate).
1. Follow Signs for Whitestone expressway.
2. At the fork for Van Wyck (678 South) you can make a left till exit
11 (Actual BBQ location)
3. Stay to the right of the fork and follow signs for Astoria BLVD.
ONce you get out drive to 108th street.
4. Make a U Turn and you will see mad rotaryz.
From Long Island (GCP)
1. Stay on GCP going west.
2. Stay on left side of Divide, get out on NORTHERN BLVD.
3. Make a right on 108th Street
4. Make a right on Astoria BLVD and we are there.
From Long Island (LIE)
1. Either get out on 108th Street Exit and go local from Corona to
Elmhurst (TOO LONG)
2. Get on GCP going west to Triboro, and follow directions above from #
1.
From BROOKLYN (Van wyck)
1. Jackie Rob or Belt to Van wyck.
2. Get on white stone expressway going west.
3. Get out on Astoria BLVD , make u turn on 108th street.
Woosh im frigging tired.
So only call me if its an EMERGENCY and you wound up in the wrong part
of town.
Its flushing meadows park, exit 11 going south on 678 (VAN WYCK). Once
you get in and you hit the stop sign you make a LEFT!.
Coming North on 678 its a lil harder to get to the park. Get off on
Jewel Avenue, and follow signs for Flushing Meadow park.
****NOTE: Easiest way is Going South on 678 (Van Wyck and getting out
on Exit 11. This is why we have the pre-meet on Astoria and 110/111th
Street much easier to access FMP. ****
Feel free to email me or hit me up on AIM: NycRotaryRocket if you have
any questions okay.
We have a food list available. The way the meets have been done before
is that everyone contributes to the meets by bringing some type of food
or beverage. As the meets get bigger its becoming a more difficult task
to maintain. Therefore if you are coming to the meet and dont want to
starve please BYOF (Brind your own food). Most likely if you coming with
your group you will already have your own food plans.
The Usual NYRA members already know what to bring so we have our two
grills which anyone is more than welcome to use after we have finished.
Some notes. The parking lot where we will be meeting at is a PARKING
LOT. There are not tables / seats. You have to walk into the park to get
a table, but we just throw the BBQ grill right there and a tent or two
and we just do our GHETTO BBQ. The parks police or NYPD hasnt bothered
us yet.
So bring your own supplies to sustain yourself. I dont think we have
any doctors in the club.
The meet will begin officially at 12:00 Noon and will last until you
leave. This is a great way to socialize, meet new rotary heads from your
neighborhood, and buy and sell parts.
Please be social and get to know one another. The rotary community is
very small and even though we dont know it we all know one another!
So come thru and have fun. See you there.
Again feel free to email me, tommy or anil if you have any questions,
comments or suggestions.
The next year of NYRA meets will begin in April and will end in
September. So keep checking out the website www.nyrotary.com and the forums.
self bump
*REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER*
The pre-meet location is designed to help those get to Flushing Meadows Park much easier. There is NO EXIT on I-678 Northbound (Coming from Eastern Long Island or Brooklyn). Pre meet is at 11:00am sharp.
The easiet way to get to the Meadow Lakes BBQ area is by going SOUTHBOUND on I-678 to Exit 11. Follow signs for FMP. At the stop sign you make a left. Follow that road around the man made lake till you get to the big parking lot. Cant miss us. The BBQ meet offically starts at 12:00Noon
For those of you who dont have the directions here they are again with some corrections
