NJ gun owners

I was wondering if anyone knows where shooting ranges are in NJ? Can I go to a shooting range without a permit to rent a gun? If no, do I just go to my local police station to apply for a gun permit? After that is completed, do they rent guns at the shooting range?

I am not looking to leave the shooting range with a gun, I want to see if this is a sport I can get into. I have always wanted to try.

Feel like a noob, quick google search yields locations: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/ranges.htm

But I still need answers to the other questions.

Got some info, I had to apply for a gun permit and looks like I have to buy my own. The guy at the shop in Bellville sai they don't rent guns anywhere in NJ. And you actually start off with a rifle/shotgun gun permit first and have to apply for another permit for a hand gun. Funny enough when I walked into the shop, I was expecting all back woods hunter guys; this particular shop had nothing but hot *** chicks walking in. So, I will be taking the GF to another shop and go there on my own.

good luck getting a handgun permit in that republic. they are so anti gun, you get fined $1000 for every hollow point bullet in your possesion. They feel that only criminals and police should carry weapons.
