Need Help in Annapolis - if you work at a shop.

Guys, I'm trying to get my new (used) car registered but the MVA is giving me some issues.

The car is a 2006 Lotus with about 57xx miles on it. The problem is that the previous owner (Virginia Title) didn't notice (and neither did I) that the title says 57xxx miles. Fifty seven THOUSAND, not fifty seven HUNDRED. D'oh!

So of course, this is a big pain in the *** since nobody seems to know a good way to fix it up. The supervisor at the MVA told me that if I get three shops to confirm the mileage by looking at the car, they will register a new title to me with 5,7xx miles.

Shop 1) Honda in Annapolis. They did the state inspection and it says.... 5784 miles.

Shop 2) ?

Shop 3) ?

This does NOT have to be a full inspection... they said that someone just has to look at the odometer, compare to the VIN and write *something* on shop letterhead or a shop invoice that says something like, "I have confirmed that the mileage is XYZ on this car with VIN blahblah" and sign it.

Can you help? I'm near Annapolis.

BTW, the VA DMV is also sending me a letter saying the title is wrong, but that might not totally satisfy the MD MVA.

I hate the MVA

Thanks!

Heh heh I don't think so.

The title was issued in mid-2006 (the car was not even a year old yet), so I would be pretty surprised if the car could have racked up 60,000+ miles in that time Plus, it looks just about brand new (no scuffs on pedals, seats are mint, outside looks great with no chips, etc). Still smells new. Radiator/oil cooler fins are all straight. I'm pretty sure that it's just a DMV screwup heh.

The guy I bought it from had it sitting in a storage unit since his classic Jag, classic Porsche, and F355 Challenge race car were in his home garage. He bought the Lotus to use on the track, but he only took it a handful of times.
