Moving to DC for school

Hey guys,
Long story short I am moving to DC from LA to start dental school in August. Although I wont be bringing my FD with me I still want to stay active in the rotary community. I definitely want to visit a few of the big tracks around the NE and hopefully make it out to big rotary days you guys have scheduled such as dggr. I am bringing my e39 M5 but I havnt decided if I am actually going to track her. My FD has been the track slave and I dont know how the bimmer will handle the abuse.

The ironic part of this move is that I grew up in Gaithersburg MD and moved to LA when I was 15. My cousin lived close to PFS in Fredrick and there I first began my afinity towards Rx7's.

Track the E39; you WILL NOT be disappointed! The E39 was the BEST M5 ever, plain and simple.

Its def my favorite m5 as well. Been pretty reliable also. I'll need to buy camber plates, track pads and a higher capacity power steering reservoir if I want to hit the track. Def not even close to the FD as far as performance but its amazing as a sporty 4 door DD.

The DGRR is a 9 hour drive from DC. Not really a local event.

Welcome (back) to the area! There's not a huge club following here but there are a bunch of local groups, BBQs and road trips throughout the year. Nice thing about living in DC is proximity to race tracks. 1 hour to Summit Point's 3 road courses, 4.5 hrs to VIR, 3.5 hrs to NJMP (2 tracks). Also within a reasonable drive: CMP, Watkin's Glen, Lime Rock, Pocono, Nelson Ledges, Pittsburgh International (formerly BeaveRun), etc.

Thats good to hear. Its been a long craving of mine to drive on VIR, Summit Point and Limerock. I didnt realize VIR is in southern VA but im sure a weekend there will justify the 4.5hr drive. It would especially suck if it ends being a rainy day... something we seldom worry about in southern California

Now I think of it... I am going to have to worry about snow as well lol Maybe its time for all seasons on the M5.
