Moving back to NOVA.... Any recommendations?

OK so my wife and I have been living in MD for about a year now and I kind of want to move back into VA to be closer to my family and friends. We gave our moving notice so we have to be out by July 1st.

I work near the Mt Vernon/Convention Center metro so Im trying to find somewhere that is either in walking distance to metro or maybe has a free shuttle or something. We need to have washer and dryer in the apartment and parking off the street. Do you guys have any recommendations on neighborhoods or specific buildings? Or better yet... anyone looking for a renter? We need a 1-2 bedroom and are looking to spend under $1400 including utilities. We are thinking rosslyn, balston, clarendon, falls church, or maybe alexandria, mclean, vienna but then the commute is getting pretty long.

Also do any of you guys park your FDs in apartment lots? Im kind of nervous about that. Hopefully I can find somewhere with garage parking.

We only need one bedroom and i know i would have to pay extra for garage parking if I wanted it. Its definitely doable.
