PA May be moving to PA (Hershey) ANyone close?

I am in the process of interviewing for a new career in Hershey PA and would be relocating to the area. I am really into autocross etc and saw that they hold events in the parking lot to the park itself..

I would probably have to sell the RX7 if I move, but would be working on my autocross miata, and will be rotary swapping that after I get settled..

Anyone in the area let me know how the scene is up there, how your inspections ect are for your daily drivers, good places to eat, ect..

I will most likely be visiting the area again early next month.

Thanks guys.

Susquehanna Region SCCA puts on the autocrosses. You can check their website for more info. I run SCCA Nationals in a 2nd gen E production, so I have no personal experience with their events, but they seem to have a very healthy series. Their monthly meetings are in Harrisburg. I live near Gettysburg and may be able to answer any questions you have about the area/housing etc.

You'll be close to Speed1 for any repairs.

Awesome. My housing is covered. Although the kids will be in the public school system so I am interested in that... I have visited the REgion SCCA page (terrible website but arent all SCCA sites??) and plan to run National events if I get a chance. I am currently in CSP..

I live 10min from Hershey. I can provide suggestions for school districts. For autocrossing, you can hit up all of the Susquehanna SCCA events (www.scca-susq.com) and if you want more, Philly, NEPa, Central PA, and the Baltimore chapters put on events too.

Apologies for the bump, but I rarely visit the boards anymore..

I live a couple towns over and work in Palmyra (where Hossler went to HS).

As previously stated Susquehanna SCCA does quite a few runs throughout the year. 2 or more events (usually 2 day!) in the Hersheypark lot, Farm Show Complex (Harrisburg) lot, and they use to do Carlisle and Park City (Lancaster).

This will actually be the first year where I can possibly run all the events. I'll be running with a '12 Mazdaspeed3 though. My RX7 has been sitting in my shop for over 3 years.

School Districts: Hershey, Lower Dauphin, and Palmyra are actually all great school districts. I personally went to Lower Dauphin. Diversity is an issue at these 3 schools (as in, there really isn't any). Hershey is a bit "uppity", Lower Dauphin is comprised of everything Hershey (Derry Township) didn't want, and Palmyra is a well rounded mix.

Didn't see where you're coming from, but I've lived in the area (Hershey, Palmyra, Middeltown, Elizabethown), aka Central PA, for 25 years. It's a great rural area... and that's what keeps us here. If you're into cities, you'll be sadly disappointed. Harrisburg is a bankrupt shithole.

If you need parts for an RX7 in the area, my shop is full of them!

Hershey actually has some diversity, but mostly by way of families in town for the medical center. It's a very white collar school district. It's not diverse in the way you might envision a typical city school.

Thanks Guys,

I am traveling up to Hershey in March with my wife for the in person interview. The process has been slow, but if we decide to make the move it should be worthwhile.
