Maryland Emissions Test

I have 700 miles on a reman engine, DP, RB Catback, and Apexi intakes. The air pump is functional and I have a new Bosch O2 sensor. I took the car to be tested after work as they are open late on Tuesdays.
They were concerned the car would be damaged because it sat so low on the rollers, so they only did the idle test.
Personally I think they were just slacking because they only did the idle test on the Z28 in front of me too.
Because they didn’t run the car on the rollers they just put “Not Applicable” in the NOx Category. It annoys me that they do the full test on some cars, but not others, mainly because my son’s 91 Integra just failed the NOx on the full test.

State standard for Hydrocarbons - 220ppm
My car – 25ppm

State standard for Carbon monoxide – 1.2 percent
My car - .01

No listing for Oxides of Nitrogen

Moral of the story – Go late in the day when they’re tired and just want to go home.

What the hell are you complaining for? You got what everyone here is looking for.

And yes, low cars will not be put ont he rollers, that is how mine was just passed...because there is no way in hell it would have otherwise

Same thing just happened to me in Columbia..

I asked the guy if I could sit in the passenger's seat for the test. I think he thought I wanted to drive (he no speakie english) so he told me to start it up.. I assumed we were testing on the Dyno but then he stopped me short and idle/2500 rpm tested it.

Barely passed.. no air pump and a metal cat.

I'm betting that as the obd-ii cars begin to out number the dyno-test cars they'll be repairing their dyno's less frequently and we'll have an easier time. At least, I'm hoping.

I have used this procedure and been lucky enough to get a waiver on two occasions. Hit there at 4:45 on a Friday and you should be good to go.
