Made 551 RWHP yesterday.

Guys,

Just another update...

First the good news...
I dynoed the car with the TEC3 yesterday and made 551RWHP with 447 ft/lbs of torque @around 28psi. I will try to get the dyno sheet scanned shortly. This was with Greddy T88 34D. Just as a comparison, Tony from T and R has a T88H and made 630RWHP boost alone. The T88H is a sick turbo. A/F's were in the 11.5 range with some areas as rich as mid 10s.

Now the bad news...
I was preparing to run the car at Etown and I did. I blew the motor in 3rd gear. The car still revs clean and drives but the boost guage is flickering at idle. I ended up running a 12.0@108 with the blown motor.

I ran the car without a tach. I tried to wire it but it was not working I decided just to shift on the limiter. I guess that was not the smartest thing since the boost flies up there so fast, I stayed on the limiter too long and one I hit 3rd, I felt it. I have got the hurley 3mm seals and I know its the little tip on the apex that cracked but going back 2mm stock mazda now. I was also running out of injectors but still ran the car anyway. When I checked the duty cycle maps, anything over 26lbs was 100% duty cycles.

I just want to thank a few guys for their help. I have got to thank Tony from rx7s.com for his help with my car, staying 2-3am each night helping me and getting things ready, very supportive friends to be around.

Next is Demetrios from Reactive Racing. Dee has helped me tremendously with the tec3. He has answered any questions I had (a lot) and also sent me his personal maps that he has worked on for some time so I can compare or use if needed. He once even streamed my pc to check out my maps while clarifying things I was not sure about on the phone.

I have a spare motor that I picked up in maryland that I will be rebuilding but this time stock 2mm seals. I'm also getting the tach working and a shift light and with Dee's help (hint hint ) will be running closed loop from now on.

Anthony

Congrats Anthony! (And sorry in the same sentance....) You have overcome MUCH more than a little blown motor over the years so I know this is not a big setback, but it still sucks... I hope all else is well.

Sorry about the engine but it sounds like you learned some things along the way. Good luck with the new one.

Congrats Anthony. You still well ahead of me! It is nice to see that the T88H (and the T88) can make some good power I'd be happy as hell to make 630rwhp. Time will tell. Get back to the track!!

Thanks for the support guys. I should have the car back up and running quickly but this time with minor changes. I will be testing the car before running it again since I would much rather post better numbers than a 12.0 at a major event.

rxrotary2_7 - looks like I will be calling you in a few for 4 1600's!

rotor_dee - again, thanks for all your help and the tips today as well!

vosko - I think you cursed me, after all, those are the same irons that I bought off of you about 4 years ago! Once I get rid of all the vosko parts in the motor I should go faster OR just break every driveline component.

turbodrx7 - I am tearing apart your motor this weekend! Thanks again for the great price.

ErnieT - You are gonna love your turbo. I could not believe the difference in HP between the H and the 34D. I am going to be looking for H in a few. Hurry up and get back out there so we can have some more TEC3 cars running!

The secondaries are def 1600s. When I bought the injectors I was told the primaries were 1200s but that definitely is not the case.

Judging by the milleseconds at idle and the tec calculations it looks like they might be 550's.

Demetrios compared my millisecond at idle to one of his 550/1600 maps and it was very close so we assumed they were 550's. After about 26psi on the tec calculations duty cycle would be 100%.

That should not be a problem anymore since I'm going with 4 x 1600's now just to be sure I have enough fuel for 30psi.

Yeah, the calculated duty cyle was at 100%. See the attached file for a screen shot. The injector ms was in the mid 9s at high rpms and high boost as well.

Congratulations anythony. If you need some help with the new motor or what not let me know I'll be more then happy to swing down to LI soon. I just sent that flippin' T-78 that I got from you out today, i ran into a bit of a mess with my car and I never sent it out over the winter when I should have when the car sat. But I cannot wait for the thing to come back and Have the beast tuned. Im begining to think I might switch to the TEC 3 since you seem to have great luck with it and ditch the pfc.
