Looking for a Fanatic in CT. W. Haven.
Hi Guys,
100% rotary noob.
Have a 12a n/a swapped into a 1971 Datsun 510.
Just looking for someone local to school me.
I am proficient in the piston, but want to learn the ways of the turbo wankle!
I started today with...timing 180 out, dizzy off 1 notch, and pulley off 1/4 turn.
The p/o was a special person to say the least...
It now runs, and idles, but I don't really know what to do next. I was told, "it has the biggest port you can run on the street", but with all the dumb **** Ive had to redo on this entire car, I don't believe anything I heard from this guy.
I set timing at stock. Didn't touch the trailing.
It has a real racing beat 465 carb, intake, and header, down to a full 2.5 exhaust I made. MSD 6al.
Idle is at +/-1050 and vacuum is at 8-10hg. From what Ive read, that's low (the vacuum), and I may really have some porting done. I pressure tested, as well as brake clean tested for vacuum leaks. None present. Vacuum readings taken off the rb manifold port. Cant get the idle to go lower or lumpy, as it wants to stall.
Do I just pull the intake, and put a scope in there, and see?
I don't remember anything looking "ported" or not stock looking, when I was bolting up the header. I absolutely looked down into those dark black holes to see what this thing is all about. From looking at pictures of ported exhaust housings, I don't believe I saw any machining/not casting towards the inside of the chambers.
I just need to feed someone beer and pizza and make a new friend.
Whos in?
We do mainly vw's at my brothers buisines.

I know how to do mostly anything, but there is so much mis-information about these engines it makes my head spin.
Just need someone to tell me stuff, and what im doing makes sence, or hey f*cktard, your doing it wrong.
Thanks. W. Haven CT.
