If you're local to Orange County NY (AutoX Meet?)

I've been trying to find some local FC/FD owners lately. I know quite a few of you from NJ, NYC, and in the east (CT/Mass).

An SCCA/Solo2 AutoX takes place literally accross the street from my home, at a small local Airport (Orange County Airport).

If anyone is interested, we could kill 2-3 birds with one stone here: 1. Meet other local owners, 2. AutoX our cars 3. Eat

It's just an idea, and the AutoX track and event is usually quite small, so I can't promise much excitement as far as anyone that wants to travel just to meet up.

The first AutoX event for this season is April 17th, a sunday, a month from today.

Anyone here from Orange, Ulster, Rockland counties? If you aren't far from Orange county it may be worth your while to all meet up and the AutoX gives us something to do/see.

I have AIM: EfiniVII or TigerDBR (Depending if I am at work or home :P) and email: tigerdbr@excite.com.

I am up in Bardonia, Rockland County, often since my bro lives up there. How far is it from there?

Bleung, Its a little over an hour from NYC, a large part of that depends on NYC traffic.

For reference reasons, its 1/2 an hour from exit 16 off the NYS Thruway (Which is the first exit in NY, 15 is NJ).

CPRx7: The town it's in is Montgomery, 12549. I suppose you can use mapquest to see what they say from you to that zip code, let me know. Its mid/upper left Orange County.

I'll revive this thread and such as we get closer to the date.

Again, it's a very small local club, and its a small (2nd gear) AutoX track, but its a cool thing to do other than just meeting local owners in a parking lot and taking pictures.

The guys at Poughkeepsie Sports Car Club (www.psccny.com) put on a good autocross but on Saturday April 2nd Westchester Sports Car Club (www.wscc.org) will put on an autocross at Orchard Beach in the Bronx.

The parking lot is HUGE.

Why not do both?

We could do both, yea. I was/have been finding FD/FC owners upstate, here in OC and nearby, so I thought an OC location would be good, let alone it's accross the street from my house!

As for me, Saturday the 2nd I am going to a concert and will be helping someone move before that, so I can't make it, but you can start another thread to organize that if you'd like.

An hour plus drive combined with an early start for autox may not go well with me. I'll let you know if I can make it.

You don't have to make it out early and race. Just come at 12-1ish and meet all of us and watch and then we'll all go out or something

April1 7th? hmm

I think I may come. I ran up at the airport once last year, it was a pretty fun course. Narrow, of course, but fun.

If my car was running I'd be there. I may just take a ride up there on my bike and watch though.

Yea, this course takes place on a runway, so it's narrow and tight, nothing like the huge parking lot ones most of you in Jersey are used to.

The idea was really to meet other *local* owners and perhaps take some photo's. The AutoX just gave us a time/place/reason to get together other than just saying come over my house

You have to show up early (8:30-10) if you wanted to race but if your 7 is down or you just want to watch that's perfectly fine, a majority are probably planning that anyways. I live around the corner and may consider that BBQ request

When our cars need work done to them, it'd be nice to know of some local owners names and numbers to call and help replace a solenoid or whatnot...

Go to www.psccny.com if you need more info on that AutoX.

Are you the owner of a Red FD in a townhouse/community in Monroe? I've seen one in town that is always parked at one place often...

Somethin222: You have an FD in goshen? I haven't seen one there....only a MKIV Supra (Owned by a 45+ year old..lol and modified!)

That supra owned my freinds M3

I have tons of stock parts and I'm always willing to help FD owners out on their rides. Shout me a holler.

yep a white '94, I bring it down to delaware with me for college, but you should see it around this summer if I can get everything in working condition again by then. I think I know the supra you're talking about too. I think the guy lives in a development off south street.

Yes, he has it under a carport. I inquired about it and his wife was kind of "Bothered" that I asked if he'd consider selling it. She concluded that it's his baby and he'll never sell it. Oh well. Saved me from buying a Supra, which I'm glad I avoided.

A neighboring car club didn't get to get it's usual AutoX spots this year, so they expect a bigger group of racers on the 17th. If you are coming to race, you'll have to be there at 8am.

As for me, I doubt I'll wake up that early so I think I'll just watch, did all of you want to meet up at my place then drive there? (I am literally 2 minutes from the airport/autox) or just all meet there? I highly suggest you drive slow and careful (of planes landing, seriously) when entering. Show off as you enter and you'll be kicked off. Also, park way back on the runway (upon first entrance) if you're spectating, don't get in the way of where the racers park and set up.

I’m right across the river in the bottom of Dutchess. I might try to get over there for the AutoX. If not, it would be great to meet some more RX7 owners in the area.

I wanted to kind of get a head count, if you could PM me (instead of replying "yes" to the thread or something) and say whether or not you want to race and/or want food.

I'll keep the thread alive come next weekend and inform everyone of where I'm at and etc.

Just PM me if you can, I'll keep editing this post to make a list I suppose
