I need a new job in Washington DC metro
Heya all, I am looking to get out of my current job (7 years +) and do something at a new place....
I currently work for MCI and I run their IP backbone (ex-UUNET backbone for those of us in the business). I'd like to find something near Rockville where I live. Something in Rockville/Bethesda/Gaithersburg would be ideal, but I'd definitely consider anything within about a 30 minute drive since it can't get much worse than working at MCI where it's way out past Dulles Airport!
Anyhow, I won't bore people with the details of my resume here, but if you need a network guy, you may wish to PM me to find out a bit more. BGP, ISIS, yada-yada...
Thanks,
Brian

Are you certified to do fiberoptics? I'm not in the know, but i get those job notification email things =). I think verizon is looking for such people. Not sure if it's in DC or not.. didn't really look since I'm not fiber certified... it does pay 6 figures =O.
Maybe sign up for USAJOBS to get a government gig.

I don't mess with much at the physical layer... pretty much just tell people on the phone what to do
Oh and watch out for Verizon... they hire contractors by the zillions, but with the MCI-Verizon merger pending, I have a feeling a lot of them will be let go.

Dodn't look through the descriptions, but check here and if there's anything you want to submit your resume for, let me know. I don't mind refer opportunities, and they're more likely to interview resumes that come from within the company.
Things at MCI are... meh. Us ex-UUNETers are still here, but in small numbers. Mostly small clusters of 10 people here or 5 there that still work together in one department or another. I miss the days of free beer on Friday
