MD Heads up on emissions testing in MD

Sorry if this has been posted already in one of the buried threads here:

The rumors that have been circling for a couple years now have come true. I wondered why I never got my notice in August to have my emissions test completed in Sept., reason is stated here:

http://www.mva.maryland.gov/MVAProg/VEIP/default.htm

They are finally upgrading the emissions testing stations and the process. So what does this mean? No more waivers due to low ground clearance. You're car will be tested regardless.

i got the waiver for low clearance last time so that's going to suck the next time. That said, if they've gotten rid of the treadmills all together, it's great even though it sucks for us rx7 owners.

They've completely eliminated the dyno test for all cars, now it's an idle sniffer test, which I would imagine would be easier to pass.

that is pretty good then, I've heard of a few cars passing idle test without a cat at all. the port isn't going to do me any favors in that regard though.

all the dynos have been removed. Its either plug up to the OB2 or tail pipe test. Lowered vehicles and trucks with huge tires can now be tested. VEIP has no teeth though. worst case senario pay $14 a month to fail and be retested. Otherwise try to max out extensions and wait for historic registration

Yea im waiting to get one for my FD lol. Sucks but there will be some way around it lol. Thought about hooking up my meth to spray the whole time its being tested. Or purposly flooding the car and making a scene untill they give up and just give me a waiver or something lol.

Instead putting all that effort into trying to circumvent the test why don't you guys just try and pass the test. Slap an OEM cat and the OEM airpump, like I did, or a GM airpump on the car and pass.
It can be done....I've done it.

Pardon my political extremism, but it's a solid case of the government forcing you to jump through as many hoops as possible and collect as much money as possible in the process.

As stated on their web page, most people are buying new cars with OBDII compliance. That leaves poor people and enthusiasts left and the state is punishing you for being in one of those two groups.

In Florida, you walk into the DMV, a quick VIN check and Mileage check and they send you packin' with tags and registration, for alot less $$ then the MVA of Maryland.

The state of Maryland is finacially irresponsible, it's a known fact. Instead of fixing the problems they trickle their incompetance down to you in the form of fee's such as cash to enter a state park that used to be funded by your income and sales tax.

I love Maryland, born and raised there. I do not care for Maryland (or Harford county) state government. /Rant

I rather take the effort then spend money on stuff i will only need just to pass emissions and lose power(yea i sound like one of those jerks) but it really is just a joke. All else fails ill just turn the tags in and get new ones in the spring but i havent got the death slip yet.

I passed the MD idle/3k sniffer test with a metalic cat, no air pump and single turbo. It is much easier to pass than the dyno test. It also takes the dyno driver out of the equation which has proven to be my largest problem in the past.

Chocking! Someone else passed the MD sniffer test! And with a single turbo and no airpump no less.

Fight the tree huggers in your county elections. Saint Mary's county Maryland does not require emissions tests for vehicle registration. That's where my car is registered.
If you don't like the rules then change the people who make them.

I don't know why anyone would want to live there so long as Corzine is your Governor.
