hmmmm... yeah.

I will follow the crowd this time and go with my friends and go drag racing (1st. for me) instead. I'll be riding up with a roudy crowd so I'm sure I'll come back with stories to tell... besides it's a heck of alot closer too

I have never drag raced the RX7. Not really sure I want to bother.... Did you get rid of that squeek in your trans. Check the trans mount of course. It might also be the speedometer cable down there.

Hmmm... good idea. My tranny mount bushings do need replacing. I will also inspect the cable like you said, but for now I'm just going to live with it fo a few more weeks until I install my T-II tranny.

Thanks.

Yeah. I gotta do the trans rebuild right. I have a 12A trans in the car right now, and I intend to rebuild the 13B trans and re-install.

Your going to rebuild it yourself?

Change of subject, hey do you want to get rid of the front bumper off that parts car? I know a kid that REALLY NEEDS IT!!!

it is here and it looks like it is not going to get used... so...

on another note. My old parts car (a very straight 82) and a decent 85 GSL are both available. Both are bodies with no drivetrain Probably need to be gone by this weekend. They are in Newport News just over the Monitor Merrimac bridge. If you want anything off of them or want the whole cars, let me know.

I'll get that bumper off you, but I can't get it this weekend (racing@Dinwiddie).

I guess I should sort of tell anyone looking. I have a first gen parts car that is leaving my house soon. It is mostly gone, but still has some stuff on it. Has all the glass, Body is mostly straight and not rusted (RF fender is crunched) I'll let the whole car go or any part.

Learning experience

I have learned a lot about rotaries in the last few months. The more you know them, the less you actually really know them.

First off, just because you have a good running engine, doesn't mean that you have good housings to rebuild. It happened to me on a perfect running GSLSE engine and I believe a good buddy of mine Daniel had the same problems also. Opening up an engine is like Cracker Jacks, it has a surprise inside.

Make sure you have spares to your spares. I had to somehow get two GSLSE housings in a matter of hours. Along with my buddy Rich, we took apart 2 GSLSE engines and a early 13B engine, but I couldn't use them. I had another friend who happened to have two good GSLSE housings and gave them to me. I, on the other hand gave him a rebuildable 91 N/A engine in return.

Make sure you check your linkage on your throttle to see that you are opening to your full potential. I was little disgusted when upon installation of a NOS system that is currently being installed, my throttle was opening halfway. My best time 1/4 mile was 15 flat at dinwiddie before NOS installation. First time for me racing anyway. I was disgusted at first, but now feel better that I did that mistake and it wasn't the car. But then again there were T2s from our area doing 14s. Never underestimate the power of a well built 13B. Courtesy of Jose Toledo.

I am going to MD and I expect my car to run 11 to 13s. I saw other cars with ungodly HP that only ran 11s so I guess they have issues also. My tranny is weak, rear differential is dying and it seems like I have started to rebuild my car again from scratch. If anybody has a good T2 tranny, let me know. I need one bad.

Sorry about the last message being so long, just wanted to let some guys know if you get an engine streetported and some other high hp mod, be prepared to spend a lot more $$$$. You are basically getting a totally different car.

I want to thank Jose Toledo for rebuilding the engine. I hope to see his car hit 7 or 8 seconds at Maryland this weekend. I will be there. This guy knows his engines like the back of his hand. This guy can back it up at the track. No wishful thoughts but actual numbers.

If anyone needs a engine built, no bs, call me or Rich.

I hope my drivetrain don't break this weekend.

I know what you mean about housings. I have a GSLSE with a decent low mileage engine in it now. I have another engine that I am going to build for it, with a street port and some other small things done. It was a fairly high mileage engine and I expect to replace rotor housings. I may opt for new housings depending on how well I intend to do the engine. If I am going to spend on everything else I am not going to cut corners on housings. I know of the usual sources, Mazda dealer, Mazdaspeed, Mazda Trix, etc. Anyone have any source that is better?

If you go thru Mazda Comp, you can get housing cheaper than the rest of the rotary shops. The problem right now is that Mazda Comp do not have any GSLSE housings right now.

This weekend in Maryland, I am still having having problems with my car. I have a busted left motor mount and somehow or another I twisted my rotor cap and it broke in at least 10 pieces, busted the distributor cap. I have been told that I over revved my car. Still have issues with getting better tires.

BTW, if anybody has a good left motor mount for a GSLSE or an automatic 12a, I will be interested in it.

What is special about the automatic 12A motormount, or for a GSLSE, or for that fact left vs right? I see the mazdatrix listings that say the left of those two are differnt, but I have one of each of thoes cars and I can't see any differance from the right one or the ones on other cars. I have an 82 AT, an 85 GSLSE, and an 85 MT GSL. All mounts appear to be the same, other parts book show the same part # for all of them.

Just asking.

Suppose I should get together a list of stuff I have extra sometime.

BTW Red (on Dragva and here) has 2 good bodies he is going to crush if nobody gets them by Saturday. He started comverting one to a drag car. Both are straight. I also have a body that is almost good that is going away within a week or two of anyone wants it or anything on it.

wrong mount? But it is the correct part number.

I would love to do some more racing but $$$ is an issue.

Rich, I will be ready to give you a rematch soon, I will wait for you to put your tranny in.

By that time, I will have a little more stuff in my car.

If the GSLSE I am going to buy doesn't run, it will be stripped!!!!!!!!!
