I'm still alive (I'm not sure if that's good or not). However, I give up. I'm getting out of the car hobby, for physical and personal reasons. I'm selling my FB (not giving it away), and anything else car specific that I have. Anybody want something speak up. I'll come up with a list of things soon.

dont have the ecu anymore.. headlight covers are yours. if calvin doesn't get this car next week i'm either having it hauled off, or first come first serve.

I know this is ghetto...

Ok, I went out and got a nice yellow top battery. My car's been hard to start when the fans run after I shutdown the car. But the J bolts are too long to keep the battery down, so I used a block of wood to take some space between the strap and the battery:

And no, the ground and hot cables aren't as close as they look, but I'm going to reverse the battery today so the cables aren't as close.

Calvin, if I reverse the battery so the cables aren't close to each other, will the block of wood I'm using pass tech inspection? It actually works well and the battery is tight in there. I replaced all the bolts that hold the battery tray.
Also, how strict are they about brake pads. They passed inspection last fall, but they look sorta thin to me. Anything else I should look at before I'm at the track? I know my tires are good. Thanks!

Well, it's not that the J bolts are too long. The problem is that the threading doesn't go down far enough. I think I'm gonna have a look around the auto parts stores for a better setup for securing the batt.

Yoshi, you should be OK with the wood block. They don't even check brake pads really. They might glance at the rotors to make sure you don't have huge grooves.

I ahve to go get the car on the trailer Friday I think, so we can take it. It should be a good time..

If you want to be sure, ask the guy named Jim Hurley on the autocross.us forum. He is the head of tech inspection for Sunday. He is the kind of person who will give you a very long drawn out answer, but it will be accurate.

Nah, i havnt blown an engine, although I am doing a rebuild with an atkins master rebuild kit, and next im ordering new rotors, and new rotor housings.

and actually I am looking for some stuff. I've been getting parts from jerry perez for a while now. right now im looking for a clutch pedel assembly and the brake pedel from a manual. I'm doing a conversion from auto on my current project.

LOL, I just got back from Sears. Finally bought a decent air compressor.

Sounds like a "fun" project, at least it'll be a virtually new motor. New rotors? Are new ones as pricey as new housings?

Hey Ian,
I am going to tell you something interesting. Instead of you buying new rotors, new housings and then a Master Kit. You are looking at least $600 per housing, $400 per rotor and then $1000 for a true Master Kit. Why not buy a freshly rebuilt with warranty engine from Rotary Resurrection (6 hrs away or ship it) or Atkins Rotary?????????? Both have at least 1 year warranty on the engine, it's built to specs and both look good. The costs will be at least $1000 cheaper guaranteed.

Just my 2 cents.

There is a battery hold down kit with J Bolts that thread all the way down with a thick rubber strap to secure the battery. Very cheap, not worth trying to perform Rocket Science on your old ones........

Don't be like FJD, LOL!!!!!!!As long as you don't put Bondo and spray paint from a rattle can, you are OK in my book , Yoshi!!!!!!!!!!
