I'm ready to drop my engine in my car, but stupidly I let my flywheel sit in my car all year and it has accumulated some surface rust. I cleaned it off with a scotchbrite pad, but I still need to have a machine shop really prepare it. I called like 10 places on long island, and nobody does flywheel resurfacing! Does anyone know anyone or anywhere to have this done on Long Island?
I know a place but its in port chester, ny depending on where you are in L.I. it can be close or a drive. The name is Midland Auto parts , they did my flywheel for me. If you can't find anywhere closer pm me and I'll find the # for you.
where on long island are you located? I had a guy at a machine shop do it for me in Valley Stream, depending on his work load you can get it back in a couple of hours. This is an automotive machine shop and not an autopart store that claim that they can do it on some lathe or something, so the quality is good and you don't have to worry about anything being out of round or something. Let me know, I don't have the address or phone number off the top of my head but I know where he is at.

i have the surface of the flywheel sanblasted with either sand or black beauty.
I have a local guy who does really cheap and it leaves a really good contact surface for the clutch...
the resurfacing (cutting) can at times leave oil residues inbeded in the alloy and if you dont cut both the mounting and bolt area correct you can have clutch slippage...
