FD help near HdG MD?

All,

I made a post in 3rd Gen section, but after taking the car out for a spin, I think I'm finally seeing why FD owners spend so much time with wrenches in their hands.

I was having an issue with low boost after a hard 1-2 shift. I took the car out and went full boost in second gear and saw 10-4 pattern. The 2-3 shift also resulted in low boost, but when I back off below 3k and boost in 3rd, it's a perfect 10-8-10.

Also, since I was in boost so much, I had the heater on, but noticed smoke from underhood. I pulled over and popped the hood, and the hose connecting to the top of the Y-Pipe is leaking what seems to be oil/water mixture and then dripping down to the turbine area, causing the smoke. I was glad it wasn't overheating, but it looks like I'll have to pop off the strut brace and a couple hoses to see what's going on with that.

Is there anyone local who would be interested in helping diagnose the boost problems? This is my first FD, but not rotary, so I have some experience, but I don't really want to pop hoses/lines off and realize that I screwed something up when my engine pops on me. Thanks in advance.

Can't help you because I don't have a rotary in my car, but good luck to a fellow Marylander

no rotary? You might wanna change the sig for No-Pistons then unless you're running a turbine engine!

Anyone else around? I've seen Abington, Aberdeen, etc guys.... c'mon, help a brotha out!

You need to check for a boost leak. Down low its not going to be as evident. Check your vacume lines to your turbo's and intercooler connections for cracks.
Take your intake off and you'll have a very good view of the lines to your turbos.

I might be able to swing by and try to help locate the leak. I'm far from an expert but and extra set of eyes might help. I did a vaccum hose job on my car with a nice detailed model off line, I will see if i can find it again to make sure nothing is mixed up under there. Just let me know when you are going to be working on it and I will see if i can come by.

Well it looks like I'm going to be doing alot of stipping this week. Hopefully some evenings I can get out for a couple hours and get the UIM off, remove/label vac lines, and track down some silicone lines for doing the rat's nest job.

I tried switching a couple check valves around for some boost troubleshooting, and ended up in trouble and shooting myself cause I broke one of them. So it looks like I need to track down a couple check valves also. It should be a fun week! Turbodrx7, if you wanted to turn a couple wrenches in return for a few beers, let me know by PM and I can give you my number/address.
