Sitting out an entire season of track days sucked. And i didn't get anything done on the car either (other than wasting a bunch of time trying to pass emissions)

Dang, Tom. I just renewed my registration and ran into a funny situation.

The paper renewal I received said “emissions inspection required” but when I logged in to check tags and try to renew on my phone it was not requiring an emissions test. The same day I logged in on my desktop computer and attempted to renew but could not because it showed an emissions test was required. That result put me back on my phone where I put in my tag request and then proceeded to try to renew and I hit a roadblock again! With new tags renewal on my mobile now showed an emissions test was required. I removed the tags and went back to the renewal page and the emissions requirement was gone, crazy!

I renewed on my phone with no emissions test and then immediately placed the order for the tags. Everything went through and I have then to put on!

it was wild!

Im also glad to hear yours is back on the road! EFR 8474 this year?!

DMV IT at it's finest. Single turbo isn't happening to at least next winter. Want to enjoy driving it for a change. Will be working on transforming more to a track car though

Can someone recommend a mechanic in the DC area? I spoke with Kearney Automotive (based on a forum search) and they said they no longer work on rotary cars.

I'm looking for a compression test.

I'm looking for a recommendation on a good body shop in the area. Please share your experiences.

D & V was also suggested on another car forum. Any others?

They are good, but also pricey, as their main customers are exotics! If you are looking to save on $ and have quality work, I go to Kevin @ Artisan Autobody in Manassas! Great guy, personal touch and reasonable pricing, just tell him Vlad sent you and he will hook you up!

Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

How about recommendations for a local highly skilled welder/fabricator to make some custom brackets for an AST/Oil catch can, exhaust components, etc?

As a point of reference, the welds by this shop in Canada are structurally sound and look like art.

There are many shops that can weld, but if you are looking for a one stop shop you can always go with Piper Motorsports!

UPR, i think i just checked them out on FB last night. Arent they up in PA? Rough price a shop would charge? I do have a friend with an electric pencil grinder setup that he used for 2 stroke porting.

Max_Spd, are you the guy on CL offering compression services and engine stand plate rental? If so I was the guy that messaged you a couple days ago about my new turbo ii.

They are in MD, but typically 300-400 is what you would expect to pay for a large street port, PP is more.

Does anybody have a spare manual tranny for the FD laying around that they'd be willing to sell me? I'm getting into position to get my car on the road again by this fall and plan on shipping my tranny out to Liberty to get rebuilt, but I'd really love to have a spare on hand for shipping and such.

Hey fam! I live in the DC area and was wondering if anyone knew of a good (relatively cheap) bodyshop in the area that can work on a FC? I'm just doing some (surface) rust repair, and a few dent repairs. I'm hoping not to spend more than $2k but I understand that most mechanics in the area are blood suckers. Thanks!

@Knivezzzz I have been using and recommending a show local to me, fair pricing and great work, name is Artisan, Kevin is the owner, so just drop my name when you come to see him for the estimates!

@fendamonky how about hooking me up with some pics of the progress man! :-P

Nothing has changed yet Vlad, I'll be undoing what I began with regards to replacing the front body harness, dropping the engine in and hooking up the rad/IC and piping. Then I'll tow it out to California and have a shop there finish everything up, make a manifold, replace ALL the wiring, build a high-end engine harness, install a new ECU (I'm thinking Motec M84 or potentially AEM Infinity), etc., etc., etc. There is a lot more that'll happen than what I've listed.

Also, if anybody is bored... I just discovered this over on the Aprilia forum:

1) Google "Thanos"
2) Click the glove
3) Enjoy.
