What type of radar detectors do you guys use or recommend. I am in the market for one cause im tired of cops sneeking up on me and giving me speeding tickets. Well i only got 1 , 45 in a 30, atleast if ima get a speeding ticket i rather be doing 140mph lol hahaha

You're lucky you only got a speeding ticket at that low speed. Getting a ticket going 140 will not only be more fines probably but maybe sometime in jail. Some counties dont tolerate that at all.

Dont get me wrong, i have taken my speeds up to there plenty of times but i am young and dumb so thats alright lol. Some people think a radar detector is a free ticket in going fast without the cost of consequence which is totally untrue.

But to answer your question, get a V1, thats what i have and its the best ever.

 

I didn't get caught doing 140--it was 139 on rt3/301 a few years ago got a reckless driving ticket,and a major speeding ticket.The trooper let me go.I got a bunch of reciepts from eld performance Brian made up for me with the date of the ticket.Went to court and said just got the car out that day and was seeing how it handled and such.Could have been 7 points--Judge dropped it to a total of 2 points--and a total of like 300.00 fine--could have been like 1200.00--He checked my record also--I had no points.Just depends on the cop and Judge.
Funny thing is the trooper said he had been chasing me for about 5 miles---I didn't see him till I slowed down coming to an intersection and he clocked me then.

I know V1 is the ****, hands down...I've used one of the cheapest cobra radar detectors for years and its worked for me so far. Just last night it saved me from 2 speed traps on my way to ALNY93R1's house

I have owned the V1 for many years and love it. The V1 can be upgraded for a fraction of the price of a new model. It has always saved my ***, even when I hit speeds of 130mph. The con of having a radar detector in the city is that it completly sucks, because it constantly goes on. I turn my V1 off when I'm around Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan.

 

Where can i buy a V1.. i'm using the cheap cobra now and its ok.. it never went off yet even though i zoom pass cops.. i just hope they not using lazar..

 

+ 1. I've owned a V1 for years and wouldn't drive without it.

 

Is having a detector illegal. Im under the assumption that its not, but am not too sure in NY State.

ehhhhh you guys are gonna hate me but i love my escort 8500 x50! im waiting for my friend to get the valentine v1 so we can have a shoot out... i just dont think the valentine will take the escort out the only thing it has that i dont is that it tells you where the cop is. i really could give a **** about where the cop is cause as long as hes getting my speed thats all i give a **** about. in my opinion i will keep my escort till i get new news! i've never got a ticket ever with my escort plugged in. i have on several ocassions has the radar go off for a min and think its broked but low and behold a min later i see that beautiful state trooper on the side of the road! dont flame me for havin it cause i always give in if theres good people that have had both plugged in and can say for sure one is better but untill my friend gets his im gonna stick with the escort.

 

Only people who have never used the radar locator don't see the value. Knowing where the radar is coming from is invaluable. If you don’t get it, you just don’t get it.

Here is a link and video of the V1 alerting to radar quicker than the X50 and sometimes the X50 didn't alert to the radar at all. They are quick pulling the radar gun's trigger and the X50 is filtering it out and the V1 is picking it up every time.
