CT Best body shops in the NE

I just moved to the area, I have a 1993 R1 that I would like to restore body and engine.

I am looking for good body shops up her that can take it down to the frame with liming, and back up into J-spec body style (aside from the 1993 spoiler, I like the way that one looks.)

Any ideas?

Posting a location would be good dude.

From my understanding and my experience, if you're in the NE, you are probably going to get screwed. You definitely get what you pay for and when you pay alot, you might still not be getting the best .

My bodyshop is pretty good about doing special work but they took forever and rushed the car even still. The good thing is, the warranty is excellent but the turnaround is probably going to be poor.

NOC Automotive.
I used to have an ugly base red car. Now it's a pretty complete Spirit R replica. The shop uses Spies Hecker paint and clear coat.

Having said that, my second car is probably not going to them. I'll be taking my car to a body shop a block away from me. They use sikkens over there and seem like pretty sharp dudes. I'll probably get screwed over again though haaa.

Supernaut, what body shop are you referring to and what's the difference in paint? Do either of those body shops do body modification?

Marcelo's in ATCO NJ, Alex is amazing at what he does, from Lambos to Bikes he can handle it.

I also recomend Tom @ Cecil collision, although his pace is much slower, his 40+ years of experience show in his work

I think alot of people will disagree that paint quality matters and clearcoat is where its at. I strongly disagree. When I bought my car, it was repainted VR and the paint looked good for a month.

I'm hesitant to mention the other one because I haven't sent my 2nd FD there yet but they do work on exotics once in a while even though their shopfront doesn't look it. We'll see what happens. I'll probably be repainting my 2nd car lambo white.

I mentioned my bodyshop in the post. The one I mentioned does it all. They texture and paint matched my interior parts to the actual Spirit R interior pieces I had and it came out great. Maybe slightly to much blue but the texture matching was surprisingly close. I've seen a widebody FD they did a while back. They do great work if you don't rush them but they are incredibly slow. They had my car for way to long and it was inexcusable. The customer service is lacking as well. They purposefully screened my calls. It's hard to say with them. Besides some evidence of rushing, my car does look very good. I get compliments on the paint job all the time.

Yea I've heard of Kenny's work. I believe Kenny and my guy used to be rivals before my guy moved.

Sorry about the location issue. I have just moved to the Hartford, CT area. I have a 1993 R-1 that I would love to get into J-spec, with what some safety mods (radiator, downpipe/exhaust(already done,) etc.) I have seen one guy here that took one down to the frame and brought it back up to his own specs. I am not a heavy mod person, I do know the shortcomings of the design, and would compensate for them.

I suspect I am going to rely on rhdjapan for a lot of new parts (engine,) and if I can't find them locally, the front end/intake system.

The big thing that hangs me up is the body. I know it is almost 20 years old, and I would like to get the frame and body back to looking showroom if I can.
