Attention New England Area Members

Greetings everyone,

Over the last year or so I/we have gotten several requests by members of the NE forum (specifically from the New England states) to split it up. Reasons ranging from the topics have no relevance to them, or the events are too far away or the fact that the New England threads themselves get drowned out by the massive amounts of posts from the other states in the section.

The staff has monitored the section for a while now and has seriously considered the situation. We believe that whatever we do should be in the best interest of the users of the region and therefore we are asking for your input.

We have proposed the idea of splitting the NE section into a true NE = "New England" and for a majority of the remainder of the section a more appropriate "Eastern" forum would be made. This split would offer a more specialzed section that could cater more specifically to the needs of the New England RX owner.

Please take a moment and post your thoughts or comments on this subject. This thread will be opened for several days pending responses from the section.

Thanks,
DKJ - RX-7 Club Admin

All the New England states would be moved to the NE section. (Technically, you guys won't go anywhere since the section is already named as the NE Region)

Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

Not sure if I like this idea. The CT, NY and Jersey people always talk back and forth on this forum.

Understood, but we have to logically draw the line somewhere. If we were to add the NJ and NY people then the PA people are going to have the same issue. See what I am saying?

Keep in mind you are free to move in between sections and cross posting of threads would be acceptable as well.

I like the New England idea better. I was always wondering why this section had 2x as many states as all of the other sections. Atleast draw the line somewhere.

+1 for split.

I'm leaning toward the idea of splitting it up. It's only one click to see any other section. I'ts' not like anyone will lose contact. Either way works and I'm sure I'll roll with it.

Hello,

I can only guess that the majority of the posts is from the Tri-State area. If this is true than I propose that there should be a NE - North East Region Forum and a Tri-State Region forum which includes New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

NE - North East
Tri-State - New York, New Jersey, Connecticut

I have no problems with this or anything else that makes things easier. I can always cross-post as you mentioned.

Thanks

i think the true New England states should be separate because some of us get squashed by the bigger states

yeah ken (2wankel) has a valid point and the tristate area should remain in a seperate section while the NE states (not including CT) can be added to their own respective section.

I would like to apologize to the New England guys, we never meant to "drown out" your posts, its just that their is more activity in this region relative to the NE states.

Mad rotary love to what ever is decided.

Best Regards

From NYRA, NJRA and CTRA and soon to be MARA (Massachussets Rotary Association)

OH may very well move to a newly conspired Mid-West section.

Looks like this is going in a direction, not sure what it is. I like the Tri-state section (New York, New Jersey & Connecticut)
I think by splitting this all apart your going to end up having a section that has little to no posts.

Are there really that many true New England members anyway? It seems most are in The CT(I know it's NE)/NY/NJ/PA/OH/MD area, and not many from New England anyway. Says the guy from New England. It seems to me that the New England section wouldn't have much traffic, but maybe I am wrong. I can go either way,and I agree it isn't a big deal to click another forum anyway.

There are so many ways that this can be split up... There are so many local areas that span across states.

I go to meets in MD because they're closer than the ones in Virginia, even though I LIVE in Virginia.

I've gotten parts from NC and hence MD, VA, and NC can be considered Mid-Atlantic. (Also evidenced by the race series MARRS, Mis Atlantic Road Racing Series.)

Just subsection it for meets. Allow people to request subsections. Tri-State, Englishtown NJ, D.C. area metro meets (Dulles Towncenter, MD Fuddruckers, Richmond Starbucks meet, etc...)

I say a true New England forum, put the rest of the NE into an Eastern forum and add a Tri-State sub-forum for CT/NY/NJ in Eastern (and linked from NE if possible).

A true NE forum would make it easier for me to find anything local since NY, VA, MD et al are too far from RI, Eastern MA, NH, VT, ME to be considered "local".
