Question Anyone in the NoVa area w/ a FEDEX account?

Hey guys

I got a real simple favor to ask. I got a part I'm trying to ship via Fedex Ground to Canada. Apparently to ship international via ground, you have to have your own Fedex account and prepaid and printed out label. I'd still have to create an account, wait for them to ship me the materials, plus they gotta pick it up from your office, blah blah. In the meantime, I'm sitting on the buyer's $$ and haven't shipped out his part. Shipping via Fedex ground is only $17 (DIRT CHEAP compared to other ways that want more than double that amount).

So if anyone has a Fedex Account and wouldn't mind sending this out for me, and I'll pay 'em for the shipping cost (which you'll have from the label), I'd REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks
~Ramy

I think I can do it - I can print the label to .pdf, and then you can print it yourself onto paper.

The only thing I'd need to know is where you're dropping it off.

Hey Dave

Thanks man...that would be great. I can just print it on a regular peice of paper and just tape it to the box? I don't need to print it on their fancy label paper? (Worst case scenario, I can jack a label from the store...I went to high school w/ all the guys there )

I'd be dropping it off at:

FedEx Kinko's
8365 Leesburg Pike Ste D
Vienna, VA 22182

The website doesn't list a store # or anything like that...just that address. If you need anything else, plz lemme know

Thanks!
~Ramy

PS: This way, it would read as if you're shipping it out, right? Your return address etc, but just being dropped off at the location here... (doesn't matter to me). And it would be pre-paid, so I can just drop it off and leave...right?

Yep, I'm here. I wonder why I missed your reply from last night though - I usually do well with the subscribed threads - sorry though that means it missed today.

Do you know how easy it is to make your own account? All you need to do is create a login and give them a credit card to bill the shipping costs to - I don't think there was any waiting period. You enter the shipping info, it creates a label, you print it, and tape it to the box. Done. You can use it once a year or once a day and it only costs you per the shipping itself. Also, you can enter where you're leaving the package - so you can dump it off at any Fedex or Kinkos or at a business with regular FedEx pickup.

If you want to ship it by my account still (that's still fine) PM me the receiver, destination address, destination type (business or home), receiver phone number, package length, width, height, and weight (bathroom scale estimate is fine). I'll send you the label by PDF and the cost.

Don't worry about not seeing the response..it happens. I'm used to email notifications myself, but am completely changing as I haven't seen one in MONTHS...

If it's that easy, I'll see if I can do it later tonight or something. I took the word of the lady at the Kinkos who said I gotta sign up for the account then wait for them to send me the shipping labels etc. That was my fear...by the time my order was processed, I got the labels, etc, that the guy would be waiting for the box for a month LOL. But I'll give it a shot, and hopefully it'll be just as simple as you said, and that'll be the end of that.

Thanks!

Yah I have a feeling the Kinkos people generally don't know a THING about the Fedex side of things. I have always worked with the local FedEx dist. center (on my way home from work) and they are really awesome.

Yea the Kinkos guys don't know much at all. It's been MONTHS now, and they're still pretty clueless about most of the things. I ship stuff w/ Fedex a LOT, so I can practically do it myself LOL.

I used to go to a dedicated Fedex office that was close to my house, but ever since the Fedex/Kinko merger, they shut down a lot of these dedicated Fedex branches, and only left the large distribution centers open. The closest one is in the direction opposite of my travel 99% of the time, so I just end up goin to the Kinkos. The one good thing tho about it is that I can drop off packages 24/7, which REALLY helps me since I usually don't get home till well past midnight, so I can still drop by and leave the package then.

Oh, and thanks for the head's up Dave. I dropped of the package today. They scanned the getto label I printed out, and it worked Thanks for the advice and offer to help anyways
