Anyone near Elyria OH?

There's an FD up for sale on ebay located in Elyria. I am in NC and nervous about buying a car off ebay if I haven't seen it. Problem is that I can't get up there by Saturday. I know it's asking a lot but if there is someone out there that would be willing to check it out for me I would really appreciate it, and if you want maybe we could work something else out, dinner, lunch, etc.

It sounds and looks like a great car, I just want to make sure there's nothing lurking.

Thanks.

Hey. I'm about 50 miles away from Elyria. I'd offer to go there, but I'm going to be out of town this weekend (I may be back on Sunday). If you can't find anyone else, maybe we can work something out.

I live in Elyria. I'd stop in, take pics, whatever. I've never owned a 7, so I don't know the specific what to look for's of the car. Just tell me what to look for and I'd take the S there this weekend sometime.

I didn't "drive", but he took me for a ride in it. So much for "stainless exhaust". I forgot to mention on the phone that he was a smoker. The car didn't have an odor at all, until he got in the car at least. (He was out in the hot, 95% humidity that we've been having here cleaning it, give him a break =D)
All in all, for the age of the car, it looked pretty good. Few paint blemishes, dings, swirls. Maybe when you come pick it up (if you decide you want it), we could have a zaino day at my place. Only thing I was worried about was what looked like oil on the front subframe. Looked like my subframe after a VTEC solenoid gasket broke on my car. He didn't seen to know a lot about rotaries, tuning, etc. He told me himself he was more of an American muscle guy. I, too, wasn't a fan of the automatic. I'm not too familiar with the 7, but acceleration didn't impress me too much. I don't know if it was because of it being an automatic, or if I'm just used to my 360hp S with a 4.77 rear end. I have taken a ride in a 400+hp one though (manual), that was impressive.

As I said before, any questions and I'll try to respond with as much accuracy I can from what I saw.

Thanks again Sam....Huge props to you for taking the time to do that for me. The bids got up to $12K and I had decided after we talked that I didn't want to spend more than $12K for the automatic. The guy had his reserve set higher than that, so it doesn't look like I'll be coming to get it.

After what you wrote above...I'm glad I didn't win the bids. It would worry me that the owner didn't know anything about rotaries and he owned the car for like 6 years. How do you own an FD for that long and not learn about it?

I don't know either. I've had my S for just 3 years and I could tell you where any bolt on it goes.

Anywho, happy to have helped!
